Ayr tips and Pontefract bets: Silvery Moon and Trinity Star ready to shine

Silvery Moon can cash-in on class drop to collect at Ayr

Silvery Moon odds are awesome as a three-day meeting at Ayr gets underway.
Silvery Moon has a good record and Ayr, so can take advantage of a drop in the weights and ease in grade to further enhance it with victory in the 1m handicap on today’s card at the Scottish venue (14:00).
The Tim Easterby trained nine-year-old has won two of his three starts over course and distance, proving last successful at Haydock back in June when winning a class 3 contest by a length off a mark of 86.
Silvery Moon went on to finish a solid two length fourth of 14 to Ginger Jack in a similar grade affair at Thirsk off 89, and is now able to race in this lower grade class 4 contest off 85.
That is 1lb lower than when last successful, thus giving the veteran major claims at the weights on the pick of his form.
This grey gelding also has a terrific strike rate of 45 per cent in the grade, winning five times and being placed on two occasions from 11 starts. Another plus is Silvery Moon odds are most attractive when the ground is cutting up – based on previous form.
Palace can Show rivals the way home

Show Palace is also among Ayr tips for September 15th.
Show Palace disappointed last time out, but looks decent value to bounce back and land the 5f handicap that brings proceedings to a close (17:20).
This three-year-old has shown improved form since going down the handicap route, winning five of his nine starts.
In the last of those at Haydock, Show Palace showed a good attitude to dig deep and beat Rose Eclair by a neck on soft ground off a mark of 62.
The runner-up, from whom the selection was receiving 3lb, has come out and won since, also running some solid races to be placed off marks as high as 74. That suggests that Show Palace’s current mark of 66 is exploitable.
Although disappointing last time out at Nottingham, things didn’t go right for Show Palace after he fluffed the start and didn’t get the best of luck in-running on fast ground which was not ideal.
The son of Showcasing was not knocked about once it was clear he would not be winning and the return to an easier surface, on which he has an 80 per cent strike rate, is sure to suit.

Trinity Star worth a punt at Pontefract

Trinity Star odds look terrific value today.
Trinity Star caught the eye last time out and looks the answer to the 1m handicap on today’s card at Pontefract (14:55) now returned to a venue which he runs well.
The Michael Dods trained gelding is a dual course and distance winner, who has also run well to make the frame on three occasions in six starts at the Yorkshire venue.
In the last of those successes back in October, Trinity Star came with a strong late run from off the pace to score by a neck off a mark of 75.
This five-year-old also ran well over course and distance in April when third to Spring Offensive, and looked unlucky not to score at this track four starts back when denied a clear run at a vital stage to be beaten just a neck by Sharanour.
Trinity Star has also shaped far better than the bare result suggests in his last two starts, especially last time out at Haydock when slowly away from a poor draw before keeping on strongly to finish fourth of 12 to Zwayyan.
That run suggested his time was near and Trinity Star is now running off a rating just 2lb higher than when last successful and undoubtedly well-treated on the pick of his form.
Show Stealer to turn on the style

Show Stealer to score for Rae Guest is also among best Pontefract bets for September 15th.
Show Stealer ran a blinder when runner-up last time out and can go one better to land the 6f handicap (16:00).
The Rae Guest trained filly won twice as a juvenile and posted a much improved effort on return to action at Newamrket in May, when beating subsequent dual Listed winner and now 111-rated Marsha by 1/2 a length in a hot class 2 contest.
Show Stealer was then far from disgraced when finishing a 2 3/4 length seventh of 20 to Dancing Star at the same venue, and the winner is a highly progressive sprinter who has since gone on to land the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood in tremendous style.
Those races represent extremely strong form, and Show Stealer comes into the contest on the back of a fine 3/4 length second to Gravity Flow at Salisbury.
This daughter of Showcasing stayed on strongly from off the pace to push the winner all the way to the line, and it was a cracking effort trying to concede 1lb to a thriving sort who was completing a four-timer.
