Mark Hughes could be about to add winning quality to his defensive line, with Phil Jones to Stoke City linked in today’s back pages.

The Manchester United defender is reportedly keen on a fresh challenge and forcing his way back into the England setup, with the Potters his most likely destination.

Jones to Stoke?

Stoke have reportedly targeted the ex-Blackburn man Jones to sure up their defence, and build upon their attacking riches.

The centre back is yet to make a single appearance for Man Utd this season, and reports suggest he is surplus to requirements after new United signing Eric Bailly hit the ground running.

However, Potters boss Hughes is likely to favour a loan rather than permanent deal – and wait to see how the bleach blonde-locked defender settles in before splashing the cash.

Once tipped for big things, injuries and poor form has curtailed Jones’ development, but will hope a fresh start can reinvigorate his career.

Toffees hijack Brahimi deal

According to reports, Everton are discussing a deal for Algeria international Yacine Brahimi with Porto.

The attacking midfielder was previously thought to favour a switch to Arsenal and cited Champions League football as a must.

However, the new financial resources that the Toffees now possess could sway the deal in way of Merseyside.

Brahimi is under contract until 2019 and Portuguese giants Porto have reportedly slapped a £40m price tag on the Paris-born attacker.

Rodriguez Baggies bound?

Tony Pulis is reportedly ready to make the remaining days of the transfer window exciting for West Bromwich Albion fans, with a flurry of late deals rumoured.

Jay Rodriguez is thought to be on the verge of joining the Baggies on loan after recovering from persistent knee injuries.

The England capped striker has been subject of interest from Pulis most of this summer, as the manager looks to bolster a depleted squad – reports suggest.

However, the Hawthorns outfit won’t stop there, Leicester City league winner Jeffrey Schlupp is also on the club’s radar along with Leeds United full back Charlie Taylor.
