The summer transfer window officially opened on July 1st, and clubs have wasted no time chasing down their targets one by one, as they look to complete some of their business with the upcoming Premier League campaign fast approaching.

Hammers hunt Gomez

West Ham United are reportedly weighing up a move for Germany striker Mario Gomez to alleviate their forward woes. The 31-year-old Fiorentina sharpshooter netted 28 times in 41 appearances on loan for Istanbul side and Turkish league winners, Besiktas.

After recent events in Turkey, Gomez is keen to leave the country and play in a more stable environment. The Hammers’ first choice target is still AC Milan marksman Carlos Bacca, but talks over a potential £26m have stalled due to his contract being worth an upwards of £100k-a-week – according to reports.

Meanwhile, West Ham have agreed a £16m fee with West Bromwich Albion for Diafra Sakho and are in the market for a marquee signing moving into the Olympic Stadium. The East London side have already added Gomez’s Besiktas teammate Gokhan Tore on loan.

Swans eye double deal

Swansea City are set to step up their interest in Tottenham winner Nacer Chadli and Leicester City league winner Leonardo Ulloa, after Fernando Llorente rebuffed their approach.

Swans are keen to bring in forward options after offloading Bafetimbi Gomis, Eder and Alberto Paloschi this summer.

Francesco Guidolin reportedly wanted to bring in Llorente, but his agent ruled out a move in favour of staying at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Chadli has two years left on his Spurs contract, but became frustrated at the lack of first team playing time and missed out on a Belgium Euro 2016 squad spot. Swansea have reportedly already had an opening bid rejected but will attempt to enter talks this week.

Meanwhile, the Welsh outfit want Ulloa, who scored six goals during Leicester’s incredible Premier League triumph, but like Chadli, is concerned about playing time after Claudio Ranieri signed Ahmed Musa.

Conte keen on Maia

Thiago Maia is a promising youngster making a name for himself in Brazil. The defensive midfielder has anchored the Santos midfield for two years, and seems his time has come to move to Europe.

According to reports in Brazil, Chelsea have scheduled a meeting with Maia’s family and agent in an attempt to work out a deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

The deal is reportedly worth around £15m, Santos currently own 100 per cent of the player’s financial rights but would have to give the player around £4.5m, as there is a clause that entails that 30 per cent of the transfer fee would go to the player.

Maia will be in action for Brazil at Rio 2016, meaning Blues fans will get a chance to scout their potential player.
