It’s the last Sunday before the Premier League returns – meaning the English top-flight rumour reel has gone into overdrive as clubs scramble to complete their squads.

So, pop on the kettle, sit back and find out what it may take for the Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea transfer to happen and much more…

Chelsea and Toffees in trade talks for Lukaku?

First up this morning, as Manchester United’s Paul Pogba pursuit edges closer to completion, the Red Devils aren’t the only club plotting to bring a former player home.

Although reports suggest Everton are yet to receive a bid for leading man Lukaku, tabloids now tip his old team Chelsea to offer the Toffees two players plus cold hard cash in a package deal for the poacher.

Those Blues outcasts set to be offered up in exchange for the Belgium international include forgotten French forward Loic Remy and back-up goalie Asmir Begovic, both 29. These players are there as sweeteners for the Lukaku to Chelsea transfer.

Will the Toffees be tempted to enter trade talks for a duo that could help plug gaps? Lukaku was lethal last season, scoring 18 league goals, while potential striker swap Remy struck just once.

While, for the Blues to bring the big Belgian back to Stamford Bridge and be paired with compatriot Michy Batshuayi, current frontman Diego Costa may also need to be sacrificed – with Serie A giants Inter Milan and Napoli said to be circling.

West Ham rival Reds for Odegaard

A couple of transfer windows ago, back in January 2015, teenage sensation Martin Odegaard was the talk of the town as he travelled to elite teams across Europe before opting to move to Real Madrid.

Just one senior Los Blancos appearance later, the now 17-year-old is ready to leave the Real Castilla and be tested at the top level.

Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen were believed to be battling to bring the Norway international to the Bundesliga on loan, but the starlet is said to be holding out for an offer from England.

Liverpool are the leading contenders, as if Jurgen Klopp didn’t have enough attacking midfielders at his disposal, but West Ham United have now also emerged as rivals in this transfer tug-of-war, with Slaven Bilic having had success with temporary deals before.

Albion in for Ayew?

While, finally, West Bromwich Albion could hold the keys to a series of transfer dominoes if they can pull off the signing of Jordan Ayew, who was one of few bright sparks for Aston Villa as the Birmingham-based club slumped to relegation last season.

Ayew, younger brother of Swansea City’s Andre, is believed to be the Baggies’ new attacking target amid rumours that a deal with the Hammers for hitman Diafra Sakho is now off the cards.

This may be good news for struggling young striker Saido Berahino, who may could finally be allowed to leave The Hawthorns for Stoke City should Albion bring in a new acquisition.

Though, having failed to offload Sakho so far, West Ham may not yet be able to complete their long mooted move for AC Milan marksman Carlos Bacca.
