Olympics football tips

The Olympics kicked off with 16 nations in Rio, but only four countries now remain ahead of the semi-final stage, with host nation Brazil and world champions Germany aiming to set up a final showdown this week.

It took the Samba Boys a while to find their feet, but since doing so they have been in flying form, while Die Mannschaft have been flexing their attacking muscles of late too.

It’s Honduras and Nigeria respectively that stand in the way of these two in-form nations, and ahead of the men’s semi-final action, Coral outline Olympics football tips for both Wednesday night encounters on Brazilian soil…

Brazil to sink three or more goals past Honduras

Neymar and co are carrying the hopes and expectations of an entire nation on their shoulders in these Games, and despite a slow start in their group campaign, the Samba Boys have finally begun to strut their stuff on home soil.

The hosts eventually secured top spot in Group A ahead of Denmark and then discovered their clinical instincts when dispatching South American rivals Colombia 2-0 in their quarter-final encounter last time out.

Brazil fired in four goals past closest group challengers Denmark earlier in proceedings too and will smell blood in this semi-final outing, against a Honduras outfit that conceded in all of their respective group games and were toppled by Portugal.

So, the in-form hosts will enter this clash at 6/4 with Coral to dispatch three or more goals during 90 minutes against a stuttering Honduras rearguard, as they eye Olympic Gold in their own backyard.

Neymar to strike first for Samba Boys

Brazil are being led towards the final by their reliable skipper and Barcelona superstar Neymar, who tucked away 31 goals in 52 outings for club and country last season, and he will be licking his lips for this latest showing.

The Liga forward skipped the Copa America earlier this summer to be available for the Olympics and such a decision looks to have paid off, with his dazzling performance against Colombia seeing him net a sensational free-kick and cause problems all over the pitch.

Neymar is therefore a promising 21/10 to open the scoring in normal time, after his sublime strike against the Coffee Growers, as he looks to captain his country to the final and banish memories of that hapless 2014 World Cup.

Gnabry to tuck home anytime for Germany

Germany could only finish second in Group C behind South Korea but they have reached this stage of the tournament after rampantly overcoming Portugal 4-0 in the quarters, which could have been a glimpse of what’s to come in their semi-final clash.

The world champions boast a host of young, talented attackers within their ranks, including Arsenal starlet Serge Gnabry, with the 21-year-old having netted in the rout over Portugal to reach an impressive tally of six goals in Brazil.

With the Gunners prospect in unstoppable form at the moment, he can be backed at a tasty 19/10 to add to his six strikes at anytime in 90 minutes against Nigeria, who have conceded six times so far in Rio.

Germany to overcome Nigeria and both sides score

Die Mannschaft’s impressive toppling of the Portuguese last time out proved they have the attacking qualities capable of going all the way, and a final showdown with Brazil potentially looms on the horizon.

Although, they must first get past a gallant Nigeria side that has battled its way to this stage, scoring seven times along the way.

With the African representatives possessing a threat going forward, but prone to leaking goals at the back, Germany can be backed at 29/10 to prevail inside normal time and both countries score during proceedings.
