Newcastle 16-1 to break Championship record points tally

Newcastle have been the best backed side with leading bookmaker Coral across all the four leading divisions in England ahead of the new season where they are the red-hot 15-8 favourites to win the Championship ahead of their opening game of the season against Fulham tomorrow. Newcastle can be backed at 16-1 to break the Championship record points tally of 106, they are 7-1 to finish with 100 points or more and 66-1 to remain unbeaten all season.

In the Premier League, Coral go 10-11 that the title is won by a Manchester club in the 2016/17 season, it’s 6-4 for a London club to get their hands on the trophy and 4-1 for a first time winner to prevail just like Leicester did back in May.

Ross McCormack is expected to complete a move to Aston Villa from Fulham over the next couple of days. The Scottish forward is 14-1 to be the top goalscorer in the Championship this season, while Dwight Gayle heads the betting at 9-1.

“Newcastle, by some distance, are the best backed side out of any of the leagues in England and Scotland going into the new season. Punters are convinced they are going to go straight back up to the Premier League at the first attempt as the Championship winners,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“We’ve also seen interest in Newcastle racking up 100 points again, just like they did when they won the Championship in the 2009/10 campaign and they have been backed to break the record points tally in the division, such is the confidence behind Rafa Benitez’s men,” added Hill.
