The Premier League season is upon us and we’re sure you’re just as excited about it as we are, but it can be tough deciding which teams to back so early on. So, we decided to ask our Mystery Trader to take a look through the fixtures and provide you with some top tips for the weekend ahead.

Manchester City to smash Sunderland

Pep Guardiola press conference - Etihad Stadium - Manchester

NAP (best bet) – Man City to Win & Over 3.5 Goals @ 13/8*

Man City’s pre-season form left a bit to be desired, but new manager Pep Guardiola will be looking at this game against Sunderland as a perfect chance to get off to a good start in the league. The Citizens have beaten the Black Cats in each of their last five meetings, with only one of those games failing to provide more than five goals. The last two Premier League  meetings at the Etihad have ended 4-1 and 3-2 respectively, so I think there’s some value in a home win and over 3.5 goals to be scored.

Leicester to beat Hull with handicap

Leicester City v Manchester United - FA Community Shield - Wembley Stadium

NB (next best) – Leicester -1 handicap @ 11/4*

Champions Leicester begin the defence of their Premier League title with a visit to newly-promoted Hull City and I’m backing the Foxes to maul the Tigers. Leicester have only lost N’Golo Kante in the summer transfer window and have added even more potency to their attacking line in Ahmed Musa. The 23-year-old Nigerian wasted no time impressing his new employers, scoring twice against Barcelona in the International Champions Cup. All that, coupled with the fact that Hull are missing key defenders, means it could be a good day at the office for Claudio Ranieri’s men.

Kane to break deadlock at Goodison

Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton - Barclays Premier League - White Hart Lane

IWAC (in with a chance) – Kane to Score First @ 9/2*

Harry Kane was unstoppable last season, but looked lethargic during a disastrous Euros campaign with England. He had a short break and returned to score a brace as Tottenham destroyed Inter Milan 6-1 in a preseason friendly. He looks fresh and raring to go and he’s bound to be helped out by the fact that opponents Everton have made multiple new signings in defence, not to mention Ronald Koeman’s comments about his squad only being 70 per cent fit. Spurs and Kane both have points to prove at Goodison Park and I think they’ll do just that, with the 23-year-old netting first.
