Mo Farah 3-1 to be Sports Personality of the Year
Published:
Mo Farah has been cut into 3-1 (from 8-1) by leading bookmaker Coral to be named the 2016 BBC Sports Personality of the Year after he won gold in Rio in the men’s 10,000m, his third Olympic gold medal of his career. Andy Murray remains the 6-5 favourite to win the award later this year, while Jason Kenny can be backed at 10-1.
Farah will be bidding for his second gold medal of the games when he defends his title in the men’s 5,000m on Saturday where he is the red hot 1-5 favourite to make it a double once again.
“Mo Farah has made history at these games by becoming the first British track and field athlete to win three Olympic gold medals and that has prompted a flurry of bets on the long distance runner winning the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award this year where his odds have been slashed following his success in Rio,” said Coral’s John Hill.
“The betting suggests Farah’s tally for these games could increase as he is the red hot favourite to defend his title in the men’s 5,000m next weekend,” added Hill.
