Luke Donald a major Ryder Cup wild card gamble

Luke Donald has been the subject of a significant gamble this afternoon with Coral to be named one of Darren Clarke’s three Ryder Cup wild cards, despite Thomas Pieters winning the Made In Denmark tournament yesterday.

Coral cut Pieters to 4/11 this morning after his last gasp success in Himmerland, and eased Donald to 2/1, but all afternoon bets have been coming for Luke Donald sparking fears that some punters may know who Darren Clarke is leaning towards. Coral have now cut Donald to 4/6 from 2/1 and eased Pieters to 10-11 from 4-6.

“This is turning into a fascinating betting event with money for Pieters this morning, a major plunge on Donald this afternoon, and no betting interest in either Knox or McDowell,” said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.

“It now looks like a straight battle between the experience of Luke Donald, and the red hot form of Thomas Pieters,” added Clare.
