Looking for the best Hamilton bets and Newcastle racing tips for the Friday night horses? Coral experts think the following are worthy wagers…

Salmon Sushi on the menu at Hamilton

Salmon Sushi scored in terrific style last time out and looks decent value to follow-up in the Lanark Silver Bell Handicap on this evening’s card at Hamilton (19.25).

The Tim Easterby trained gelding came from off the pace to storm clear and beat All My Love by five lengths at Wolverhampton.

GOFFS - WEDNESDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER 2009

Salmon Sushi won with any amount in hand and, although now 6lb higher in the weights, he had previously posted a number of solid efforts which suggest a mark of 86 should not be beyond him. They include a fine third to Shakopee at Doncaster in a race which has worked out well.

The winner has gone on to finish a fine second in an ultra-competitive class 2 contest at the York Ebor Festival off 92, and the runner-up Goodwood Mirage won next time up at Sandown before being beaten just a short-head at the same venue off 88.

That is strong form and other pluses are that Salmon Sushi has proven form with cut in the ground and is likely to get the strong pace he needs to be seen to best effect.

Specialv can sprint to success

Specialv has a progressive profile and looks the answer to the 6f fillies’ handicap (18.55).

Trained by Brian Ellison, the three-year-old has won two of her last four starts and posted a career best effort last time out when beating Aprovado by 1/2 a length in a 10-runner affair at Ayr.

RACING

After being held-up in a strongly run race, Specialv was denied a clear run when making a move a furlong from home before being switched out and storming home to win going away.

The daughter of Big Bad Bob was well on top at the finish and, although now 5lb higher in the weights, that is offset by the 7lb claim of apprentice Ben Robinson.

If taking it into account, Specialv is running off a 2lb lower mark than at Ayr and weighted to take all the beating.

Almutamarred the ace in the pack at Newcastle

Apprentince jockey Adam McNamara is enjoying a terrific season and Almutamarred looks to hold leading claims of providing him with another winner in the the 1m 2f handicap on this evening’s card at Newcastle (18.00).

The lightly-raced four-year-old got off the mark over course and distance three starts back when coming from off the pace to land a gamble by a cosy 1 1/2 lengths.

Although Almutamarred has since been well beaten in two starts on the turf at Yarmouth, at Doncaster the return to the Tapeta surface is likely to see him in a far better light.

Doncaster

This is also a weaker contest lacking any real strength in depth and McNamara is superb value for his 5lb claim.

Taking it into account Almutamarred is running off just 2lb higher than when last successful and that gives him every chance from a handicapping perspective of notching a second career success.

Torres makes plenty of each-way appeal

In the 1m 2f handicap (17.25), Hernando Torres looks a lively outsider and decent each-way value in a wide open contest.

The Mick Easterby trained gelding has a good record on the Tapeta surface, winning twice and being placed three times.

In the last of those successes at Wolverhampton in December, the eight-year-old scored readily off a mark of 69 before going on to finish a fine third of 14 in a competitive class 4 affair at York off 72.

Hernando Torres is now able to race in this class 5 contest off the same mark as when last victorious and comes into the race on the back of two solid efforts on the turf.

Those runs suggests the veteran is coming to the boil and, with Rachel Richardson in the saddle taking 3lb off with her, claim Hernando Torres looks weighted to run a big race on the pick of his form.
