Luke Morris talks his York and Chelmsford Saturday rides and other tips

SPORTSBOOK ODDS

I’VE had to wait to get my chance but I’m really excited about being able to ride at York on Saturday, and have a couple of strong chances to win as well.

I won’t be hanging around too long though as I’m off down to Chelmsford in the evening where there are some good prizes on offer despite the small fields. Winners at both tracks would go down very nicely indeed.

1.55 York – Scarlet Dragon
He ran really well at Goodwood last time and has shown good form in competitive handicaps like this. He gets in off a nice light weight and I think he has to have a good chance. I’d like to think he’s still improving and can be in with a big chance at the end of the race.

York Dante day 2

2.30 York – Celestial Path
I don’t think the track or the rough and tumble of the race at Goodwood suited him at all last time. He works so well this horse and we’ve put the visor on him in an attempt to get him to show that on the course because he’s got so much talent. I don’t see the trip being an issue.

4.00 York – Antiquarium
I’m not riding in this race but Antiquarium is the one I like. He’s got a lovely draw in stall seven and he looks a class act when winning the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle last time. He showed such a good turn of foot for a stayer when winning that day and if the ground is fast that will be in his favour as well.

York Dante day 2

6.15 Chelmsford – Desert Gift
She’s not a horse I know a great deal about but she has been handed a wide draw in stall 11 which isn’t going to help her chances. I suspect she’s one to watch for the future.

6.50 Chelmsford – Queensbrydge
She’s a solid filly who has run well in her maidens so far. However, this is a step up from what’s she’s run in and will require a career best for her to win.

7.20 Chelmsford – Tenzing Norgay
He’d had quite a few quick runs in the spring and has had a bit of time off to freshen up since then which I think will really help him. He’s working nicely since he came back and he should be bang there.

Horse Racing - Sandown Racecourse

7.50 Chelmsford – Dubawi Hundred
He ran well on his first start in what wasn’t a bad maiden at all at Redcar. He’s a big raw horse and I’d like to think he’s improved for that first run. He’ll have to step up but I wouldn’t discount his chances at all.

8.20 Chelmsford – Roxie Lot
Her trainer Pam Sly has her horses in decent form at the moment, which is a plus. She’ll be wearing the first-time cheekpieces which will hopefully bring her back to form as she’s been a bit quiet of late.

8.50 Chelmsford – Justice Rock
He’s been out of form recently and has been handed a bad draw in stall 12. We’ll need plenty of luck but we’ll give it a go and see what we can do.

Cheers,
Luke
