Leading bookmaker Coral has cut the odds on this summer being the hottest on record in the UK into 3-1 (from 5-1) after the firm took a flurry of bets over the last 24 hours ahead of the glorious weather which has been predicted for next week.

Coral is odds-on at 1-3 that 30C or higher is recorded in the UK next week, while they are offering 7-2 that the record high temperature of 37.5 is broken in the UK this summer.

“The odds suggest temperatures are likely to exceed 30C next week in the UK, while we have also seen a flurry of bets for this summer being the hottest on record ahead of what could be a very warm end to the month,” said Coral’s John Hill.
