Perth Darts Masters tips
It’s finally happened! Phil Taylor has been beaten at long last in an Australian World Series of Darts event at the seventh time of asking, after little-known home hope Corey Cadby caused an almighty first round shock at the 2016 Perth Darts Masters.
The Power’s loss comes just after his thrilling final victory in Sydney over Michael van Gerwen, and now gives Peter Wright a big chance of reaching the semis for a second time in consecutive competitions.

There were no other shocks on the first day in Perth, as the likes of title favourite Van Gerwen (4/7), Gary Anderson (7/2) and Adrian Lewis (10/1) all made it through, and one of the eight remaining stars will be guaranteed to win a World Series title in Australia for the first time.
So, check out Coral’s five top tips for the quarter-finals below…
Anderson to edge Chizzy
The Flying Scotsman will be hoping to put his thrashing at the hands of Taylor in Sydney behind him, as he takes on Dave Chinsall, who he’s beaten in each of their last six meetings.
Chizzy, however, has looked in good touch since landing Down Under, after reaching the semis in Sydney and dropping just one leg to potential danger Koha Kokiri can take him the distance.
Back Anderson at a tasty 15/2 price to down his English opponent 10-8.
Barney to hit the Jackpot and beat Lewis
Raymond van Barneveld couldn’t get the hang of Lewis last year, losing seven of their nine contests, but has won the last two meetings this year on the big stage – World Cup of Darts and Premier League.
The Dutchman is underdog for this upcoming clash but, after defeating Simon Whitlock in the last round without breaking too much of a sweat, he looks raring to go.
Barney is 11/8 to make it to the semis, where he will face one of Anderson or Chisnall.
MvG to go down to bogey player Wade
Not many, if any, can claim to have a better recent record against dominant world number one Van Gerwen, except one man – The Machine James Wade.
The Englishman has won four of his last seven against the deadly Dutchman, with three of those victories coming this year, including in the Premier League and Auckland Masters.
So, why not back Wade at 5/1 to inflict further pain on Van Gerwen, who only just edged past Kyle Anderson in the first round?
Snakebite to see off Taylor’s conqueror
This is the second time in two successive tournaments that Wright has faced an unexpected opponent, as Rhys Mathewson shocked Wade in Sydney to face Snakebite.
The Scotsman dispatched Mathewson with relative ease 10-4, and is a hugely tempting 9/4 price to be King of the Oche (wins match, gets most 180s and highest checkout) against Cadby.
