Coral’s bet of the day

  • Leicester City won 1-0 seven times last season
  • Foxes finished campaign with best away defensive record in PL
  • Leicester are unbeaten in their last 12 league games

Foxes 15/2 to triumph 1-0

English Premier League champions Leicester City come into this clash with Celtic on the back of a historic title winning season and will be buoyed by keeping most of their valuable playing assets.

Foxes triumphed 1-0 seven times in the Premier League last campaign and was their most frequent result last term. They look likely to emulate it at Celtic Park and Coral have them 15/2 to win by that scoreline again.

This contrasts spectacularly with Celtic’s unconvincing recent form. The Bhoys lost to Gibraltarian outfit Lincoln Red Imps in their first leg of the Champions League second qualifying round, an embarrassing defeat that has many doubting Brendan Rodgers already, despite defeating the minnows in the return leg.

High-flying Foxes to edge Celts

Claudio Ranieri’s side finished the season with the best away defensive record in the Premier League, so a trip to Glasgow won’t strike fear into the English winners. The East Midlands club are coming off the back of a 12-game unbeaten league run and are still riding high from the previous campaign.

Leicester have wasted no time in strengthening with quality players, sealing the signature of midfielder Nampalys Mendy from Nice. The Frenchman has been described as a carbon-copy of Claude Makelele and is a like-for-like replacement for N’Golo Kante.

Ahmed Musa is another arrival to the King Power Stadium and is the club’s record signing at £16.6m. The striker scored 18 goals for CSKA Moscow last term and will form a formidable partnership with Jamie Vardy – who snubbed a move to Arsenal.

After Celtic’s Champions League exertions on Wednesday, Rodgers will likely field a weakened outfit as the Scottish League season approaches. Expect Leicester to have too much quality for the Scottish Champions to handle in an easy 1-0 win.
