Heaven’s Guest up for the Bunbury Cup

The big betting race on the final day of Newmarket’s July Festival is the Bunbury Cup (17:10), and Heaven’s Guest looks to hold leading claims of landing the 7f contest for a second time.

Trained by Richard Fahey, the six-year-old is a tough and consistent sort who won the race in 2014 off a mark of 101 and also ran a blinder to finish a 1 1/4 length third in last year’s renewal off 103.

Heaven’s Guest should be very competitive off a rating of 104 judged on those efforts and comes into the contest having posted an improved performance when chasing home Jallotta at York.

That was a big step in the right direction and Heaven’s Guest looks to have been laid out for this by his shrewd handler.

The son of Dark Angel is also versatile as as regards ground and everything points to a huge run.

Silent Attack can strike again

Silent Attack scored in terrific style last time out and can make light of a rise in the weights to follow-up in the 1m handicap (15:25).

Dubai Monday

The Saeed bin Suroor trained colt made a mockery of his opening handicap mark of 83 when when bolting up by two lengths over course and distance.

After being held-up under a confident James Doyle, the three-year-old made smooth headway to track the leader a furlong from home before quickening smartly to put the race to bed.

It was a most taking performance which suggested the son of Dream Ahead was way ahead of the assessor and needing keeping firmly onside, and a 9lb rise is unlikely to be enough to stop Silent Attack going in again.

Bin Battuta the one to beat in Superlative Stakes

Bin Suroor looks to hold leading claims of landing a quick-fire double with Bin Battuta in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes (16:00).

Race horse trainer SAEED BIN SUROOR.

The colt created a huge impression when winning on debut at Windsor by 3 1/4 lengths in the manner of top notch prospect.

After being held-up, the two-year-old was pushed along two from home when showing distinct signs of greenness before picking up in style once switched to quicken clear and score with any amount in hand.

Bin Battuta has a huge engine judged on that display and is sure to come on significantly for the experience.

This does represent a big step up in class, but the son of Dubawi looks a very exciting prospect and can take it in his stride before going on to even better things.
