Luke Morris has been looking to his Friday rides at Goodwood
FRIDAY is the day I’ve been looking forward to most at Glorious Goodwood this year as I’m riding some really nice horses who should have good chances of winning.
In Marsha and Celestial Path I’ve got two rides who have plenty of talent and I’ll be doing everything I can to make sure they can run to their absolute best and, hopefully, come home in front.
2.00 Glorious Goodwood – Berkshire
The way he finished his race the last day at Newbury he really powered home and looked as though a mile and a half would really be in his compass. It’ll be important for me to try and switch him off early and if I can do that I think he’s got a massive chance.
2.35 Glorious Goodwood – Emotionless
I’m not riding in this race but I think it’s Emotionless’s chance to get his career back on track. I don’t think it’s the strongest Group 2 in the world and, personally, I think it’s his to lose.
3.10 Glorious Goodwood – Celestial Path
He’s not drawn ideally in stall 17 and I’ll have to drop him in and ride him for a bit of luck as a result. He’s more than capable of winning this if he gets that bit of luck because he’s got loads of talent. Off his mark I think he’s got a strong chance granted luck. I don’t see the big field being the problem and he’s got a good turn of foot, so he should have the tactical speed to take the splits when they come.
3.45 Glorious Goodwood – Marsha
She’s very fast and this is the acid test for her. She’s taking on proven Group 1 horses and this will be the race where we find out just how good she really is. There looks like there’ll be a strong pace in the race, which is what she wants, and I’m really hoping of a massive run from her as we’ve always thought she was a special filly.
4.20 Glorious Goodwood – Rusumaat
I’ll be watching this race from the weighing room and I expect to see Rusumaat win. He’s a tough, hardy horse and it’s interesting Paul Hanagan has picked to ride him over the other Sheikh Hamdan runner. I think the course will be in his favour as well as his a nippy, agile horse.
4.55 Glorious Goodwood – Namhroodah
This is a stronger race than the one she ran in last week and as a result she’ll have to step up again. Having said that, she’s clearly improved for dropping down in trip and she’s in as good a form as she’s ever been in. I think she’s got a solid each-way chance and I think she’ll be in there pitching at the end.
Cheers,
Luke
