Minding to turn on the style in Nassau Stakes

Superstar filly Minding looks a worthy red-hot favourite for the Group 1 Nassau Stakes on the final day of Glorious Goodwood (15:10) and is impossible to oppose.

Trained in Ireland by the all-conquering Aidan O’Brien, Minding has won six of her nine career starts and already has five Group 1 successes under her belt.

They include Classic triumphs this year in the QIPCO 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Investec Oaks at Epsom.

Minding was sensational in both and comes into the race having easily landed the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh by 4 1/2 lengths.

Rock solid profile

The daughter of Galileo has a high cruising speed and potent turn of foot. She also showed in The Oaks when getting badly hampered and buffeted about that she is prepared to dig deep when required.

Minding’s profile is simply rock solid and she is one of the best fillies racing has seen for a long, long time.

An official rating of 120 also gives her 8lb and upward in hand on her rivals. Simply put, she looks in a totally different league to her opposition.

With Ryan Moore in the saddle, it should be a question how far her margin of victory will be as this race looks Minding’s for the taking.

Queen’s Trust the forecast choice

Only four rivals dare to take on Minding, and of those Queen’s Trust looks the obvious one for the forecast.

The Sir Michael Stoute trained filly shaped with plenty of promising on her return to action when a fast finishing fourth in a Listed contest at Newbury. She backed that up with a career-best performance when fourth to Even Song in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Queen’s Trust was slowly away in the latter and, after being held-up well off the pace, stayed on strongly to be nearest at the finish and beaten 2 3/4 lengths.

It was an excellent effort – given how the race panned out – and one which suggested the daughter of Dansili should have plenty more to offer after just four starts.

However, this demands much more. With Queen’s Trust is rated 15lb below Minding, the latter will need to seriously under-perform for Stoute’s entry to land the spoils.
