General Election 7-4 to be called this year

Following the news that Andrea Leadsom has pulled out of the Conservative leadership contest today, in the process leaving the way open for Theresa May to become Prime Minister, bookmaker Coral has opened betting on when the next General Election will happen, and go 7-4 that one will occur this year, while their favourite is 2020 at evens.

Coral are also betting on the outcome of the next general election, and make another Conservative majority the 11-10 favourite, with no overall majority priced at 11-8.  Meanwhile, Coral has opened betting on when Article 50 will be triggered, making 2018 or later the 10-11 favourite, while it’s 2-1 to happen before the end of this year.
