Dustin Johnson has been by far the most popular selection with leading bookmaker Coral ahead of the final major of the year, the 2016 US PGA Championship which begins on Thursday. Johnson is the 8-1 joint-favourite along with Rory McIlroy, world number one Jason Day is available at 10-1 with the firm, while Jordan Spieth can be backed at 14-1.

Coral is offering their online and mobile customers seven places on the tournament and the firm can report that Sergio Garcia (25-1), Jason Duffner (80-1) and Kevin Chappell (100-1) have all attracted strong each-way support. With all three majors in 2016 so far going to maiden major winners, Coral go even money that the US PGA Championship is won by a first time winner of golf’s four major tournaments.

“Although there is very little to separate the four big guns at the top of the betting for the final major of the year, our punters have been pretty clear on who they want to back as Dustin Johnson is by some distance out biggest liability going into the tournament,” said Coral’s John Hill.
