Sea Of Heaven to collect for in-form Sir Mark
Trainer Sir Mark Prescott has his team in fine form and Sea Of Heaven can provide him with another winner in the 2m Brown Jack Handicap at Ascot today (14.55).
Like many from the stable, the gelding showed improved form when stepped up in trip last season and winning twice over this afternoon’s trip.
Sea Of Heaven is a strapping type who looked as if he could have even more to offer as a four-year-old, and that view has been confirmed in two outings this season.
After shaping as if needing the run when 12th of 20 in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle, the son of Sea The Stars ran a blinder when runner-up to the thriving Sweet Selection in a 10-runner contest at Newbury seven days ago.
Sea Of Heaven travelled powerfully throughout and looked all over the winner when coming from off the pace to take up the running two from home.
He then hung left inside the final furlong but stuck to the task really well to go down by 1 3/4 lengths with the front two pulling three lengths clear of the third home.
That gives the form a solid look and Sea Of Heaven is able to race in this off an unchanged mark of 86 which means he is 3lb well-in at the weights as he is due to race off 89 in future assignments.
Robot Boy ready to rock
Robot Boy ran a blinder when runner-up last time out and can go one better to land the 5f handicap (16.35).
The David Barron trained gelding won the consolation race for Scottish Sprint Cup in 2014 before following up in good style at Newcastle, and got back to winning ways on his second outing last season when readily betting Normal Equilibrium by a 1 length at Newbury off a mark of 103.
Robot Boy went on to finish an excellent 3 1/2 length eighth of 18 to Goldream in the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, and backed that up with a solid fourth of 18 to Double Up at this venue off a mark of 106.
The six-year-old is now able rating of 97, 6lb lower than when last successful, and comes into the race having built on a promising reappearance run when sixth in the Scottish Sprint Cup to be denied just a head by Royal Birth over course and distance 13 days ago.
Robot Boy was in front for longer than ideal in that contest and a 1lb pull with the winner can see him gain his revenge.
