Coral’s bet of the day

  • Ajax are unbeaten at home in 18 games
  • Dutch club recorded seven 2-0 wins last term
  • They had the best defensive record in Eredivisie last year

Ajax 11/2 to triumph 2-0

Ajax registered seven 2-0 wins last term, and was their most frequent result last season. They look likely to emulate this against PAOK Thessaloniki and Coral have the Amsterdam club priced at 11/2 to do it again against the Greek outfit.

SC Cambuur v Ajax Amsterdam - Dutch Eredivisie - The Cambuurstadion

The Dutch club possessed the best home record in terms of attack and defence last term in the Eredivisie. Their Amsterdam Arena was an absolute fortress, as they conceded the fewest strikes and netted a huge 49 – averaging a massive 2.9 goals-per-game.

This Champions League qualifier won’t faze the Dutchmen, after making the group stage of this competition in each of the last five years. Meanwhile, in total contrast, PAOK have failed to make the group stage since the Champions League’s inception.

Bosz’s buoyant boys bound for group stage

Peter Bosz’s men experienced disappointment last season, as the title was snatched away from them during the very last game. However, the side responded by keeping their best talent, including Arkadiusz Milik and Anwar El Ghazi. Milik scored 24 goals in all competitions last term and impressed with his displays at the Euros. El Ghazi on the other hand is a skillful winger that is a creative force and nuisance to defenders.

Ajax Amsterdam Pre Season Training Camp - Austria

With at least one of these players set to start in the Dutch capital, PAOK will need to be on top form to spot the flying forwards. The Athens club have a number of new signings bedding in at defence, with Fernando Varela and Leo Matos, the most notable. However, what will buoy Ajax is their goalkeeping situation.

With Zeljko Brkic coming in from Udinese, and doubts surrounding Markos Vellidis, the unsettled nature of the position should encourage Bosz’s boys.
