Coral’s Sunday rumour reel is certainly not short of topics to discuss this morning, with fresh momentum gathering behind several long-running sagas, plus a few surprises too. Will prodigal son Paul Pogba finally return to Old Trafford? Put your feet up, read on, and find out all the latest…

Pogba punt to be world record fee?

The transfer triangle between Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid rolls on. With Los Blancos apparently dropping out of the race to poach Pogba from the Old Lady, Man Utd are now apparently in pole position to raid Turin for their former charge.

Papers suggest a world record free will be required to prise France prodigy Pogba from Juve’s clutches, pipping the famous £85.3 million fee previously forked out for Gareth Bale by Real.

It seems the Spanish giants don’t have the stomach for smashing spending records anymore, though, leaving the Red Devils clear to capture the 23-year-old. When both Los Blancos and Manchester City’s eyebrows are raised by a fee, you know it is serious.

Whether Jose Mourinho will sanction such a lavish expense on a luxury player remains to be seen, but Man Utd deals with two other Mino Raiola clients are also said to be moving along.

Completing the trio of targets along with Pogba, an agreement for Borussia Dortmund playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan is believed to be almost complete, with soon-to-be free agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic also expected to finally sign on the dotted line come July 1st.

A potential back-up if the Mkhitaryan move falls through, is where the surprising links to Julian Draxler come in, with Mourinho keen to add extra class on the right wing, where out-of-position Juan Mata has often toiled.

Arsenal eye Lacazette

Another forward-thinking Frenchman features here, with Arsenal expected to provide frontman Oliveir Giroud with company and competition in the form of compatriot Alexandre Lacazette.

The lethal Lyon attacker is set for a summer move, with London a likely destination. It could well become a capital club tug-of-war as ambitious West Ham United have also been pursuing the Ligue 1 predator themselves.

Arsene Wenger would likely hold the edge ahead of the Hammers, but Atletico Madrid are also said to be lurking in the background with a swoop for Lacazette in mind, as Diego Simeone seeks to mount another La Liga challenge and provide a potent partner for Antoine Griezmann.

Lacazette received mixed reviews from Lyon last season, but still managed to clock up 23 goals in 43 outings across all competitions.

While, staying put in north London, Tottenham are also trying for a striker but their targetting of AZ Alkmaar goal-getter Vincent Janssen could prove fruitless, with nouveau riche PSG also now circling the Dutch dangerman.

In more Sunday morning Spurs speculation, it seems Mauricio Pochettino should be more concerned about losing Eric Dier than Harry Kane, after the midfield shield’s accomplished Euro 2016 outings for England were said to have drawn admiring glances from Bayern Munich. Oh-oh…

City see Stones as a sure thing?

Finally, we come full circle. Having begun with an endless transfer saga, we also finish on another. This time it is John Stones’ turn, as tabloids tip Manchester City as confident of beating both Man Utd and Chelsea to the Englishman’s signature.

Everton v Tottenham Hotspur - Barclays Premier League - Goodison Park

The ball-playing centre back, currently on England Euro 2016 duty, should cost around £50m, but has been ear-marked as a priority signing by the incoming Catalan coach. We still won’t hold our breath for this transfer to be tied up anytime soon, though!
