Czabo has plenty going for her in Sandringham

Horse Racing - Betfred Ladies Day - Newbury Racecourse

Czabo has some strong form to her name and looks to hold leading claims of landing the Sandringham Handicap which brings proceedings to a close on day two of Royal Ascot (17:35).

The Mick Channon trained filly made a mockery of her mark when easily landing a handicap at Sandown on return to action back in April, and ran as well as could be expected on her penultimate outing when a 12 1/2 length fourth of 12 to Jet Setting in the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh.

Minding, who finished runner-up in that contest, has since gone on to bolt up in the Investec Oaks and the ninth home Pretty Perfect has come out and landed a Group 3 by four lengths.

That form reads well in the context of this contest, and Czabo comes into it on the back of smooth 1 1/4 length success in a Listed contest at Deauville on soft ground.

Judged on those efforts, a handicap mark of 99 should not be beyond the daughter of Sixties Icon, and Czabo remains open to further progress and will have no problem with underfoot conditions.

With champion jockey Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle, everything looks in place for a big run.

Swagger to turn on the style in Royal Hunt Cup

In a typically fierce and wide-open renewal of the Royal Hunt Cup (17.00), Mitchum Swagger looks a lively outsider and decent each-way value.

David Lanigan

The David Lanigan trained gelding looked a good prospect when making a winning debut in a 20-runner maiden at Newbury, coming from off the pace and showing a smart turn of foot to get up and score by a neck.

Mitchum Swagger was allotted an opening handicap mark of 87 on the back of that success, and made a mockery of it when scoring at Haydock.

The four-year-old was then just denied in a competitive affair at the same venue, before rounding off the campaign with a fine neck second in a Listed contest at Newmarket.

If those performances are any indicator, Mitchum Swagger looked one to keep onside this season and, although well-beaten on his return to action in a Listed contest at Leicester, the son of Paco Boy is entitled to strip much fitter for that outing.

The big field and strong pace will also suit, and another plus is that Mitchum Swagger has winning form on soft ground.
