Dante delight for Desire gives horse Wings

Newmarket-based trainer Gosden has a classy colt who won the Group 2 Dante Stakes at York – a race that has emerged as the key Derby trial in recent years. Wings Of Desire beat Deauville by a neck and has headed the betting on the second of the Epsom Classics ever since.

Hailing from the same stable as the impressive Golden Horn, who did the Dante and Derby double last season before going on to scoop both the Coral-Eclipse and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Wings Of Desire has won two of his three career starts.

Yet to finish outside the first three in any of those runs, Gosden’s cool colt had already tasted victory over the Derby distance of 1m 4f at Wolverhampton in April when romping to a four-and-a-half-length success. Wings of Desire can stay the distance, then, and all signs suggest he will place at Epsom.

Should Wings of Desire somehow fail to finish in the top three, then fear not. Coral will compensate all losing wagers with a €/£5 free bet that can be used across our digital platforms.
