Swiss shall have to make history to send Poles home

Ukraine v Poland - UEFA Euro 2016 - Group C - Stade Velodrome

Switzerland have never beaten Poland in a competitive international and their sole victory in 10 previous meetings came back in 1978.

Couple this wretched record with the fact the Poles have yet to concede a goal at Euro 2016, and La Nati are thus 9/4 outsiders with Coral to win this last 16 match in 90 minutes.

While the Polish may be odds-on at 8/11 to qualify for the quarter-finals from this game, there is value in taking Adam Nawalka’s White Eagles winning in normal time at 31/20.

A draw, meanwhile, which has been the result in half of those 10 encounters between the Swiss and Poland and would result in at least an additional half-hour, is a 15/8 chance.

Marksman Milik a proven performer

Ukraine v Poland - UEFA Euro 2016 - Group C - Stade Velodrome

While scoring goals has been neither nation’s strong suit at the Euros so far with two apiece, Ajax striker Arkadiusz Milik has netted in this fixture before.

It may be too much to ask for a repeat of the 2-2 friendly from last November (20/1 chance), but Milik is splendid value at 15/8 in the anytime market. He should plenty of joy because Switzerland’s full back

Polish strike partner Robert Lewandowski, 5/1 to strike first, has disappointed somewhat at Euro 2016. It is clear on international duty he is not furnished with as many or the same calibre of chances, because he has fewer quality players around him.

Winger Jakub Blaszczykowski is a former club teammate of Lewandowski and grabbed a stunning winner on his weaker foot against Ukraine last time out. At 7/2 to repeat anytime, Kuba, as Borussia Dortmund fans shortened his name, is also worth a punt to produce more magic.

Spread your scorer bets on Swiss

Switzerland v France - UEFA Euro 2016 - Group A - Stade Pierre Mauroy

Looking at Switzerland’s striking options, the threats are less obvious. Fabian Schar’s set-piece goal apart, Bayer Leverkusen forward Admir Mehmedi is the only attacker to have found the net.

At 11/4 to produce again anytime, Mehmedi lacks a consistent menace for club or country. There is much more to like about a fabulous 5/1 on Xherdan Shaqiri in the same market.

The Stoke City star is yet to shine at the Euros, but has undoubted class. Fellow winger Fabian Frei scored last in the draw when La Nati last played Poland, and is a 6/1 anytime chance or 16/1 to have the final say.

Josip Drmic’s absence from Euro 2016 has been more of a big blow than it first appeared for the Swiss, and a terrific 13/5 price on Poland winning to nil as they have in two of their three tournament outings so far must be considered.

Coral’s top tip: Milik rates a solid anytime scorer bet at 15/8 against a Swiss defence that is easily exploitable down the flanks.
