Perfect pool finish in sight for French

Euro 2016 hosts France take to the stage for their final Group A game against Switzerland already assured of advancing to the next round, with odds of 19/20 from Coral for Les Bleus to keep their perfect pool record intact by chalking up a third victory.

There may be just two FIFA ranking places between these neighbouring nations, but there has been a gulf in the class between their respective group stage rumbles, though historical head-to-heads featuring a France lead by 16 wins to 12, show the Swiss could prove more stubborn opponents than expected.

Soccer Euro 2016 France Albania

Nine of the Alpine pair’s previous meetings have ended evenly including three of the past four, so a draw is understandably short at 2/1, considering Didier Deschamps’ men took their sweet time about scoring against both previous opponents Romania and Albania.

With that in mind, French flair is 7/2 to see the game all even at half-time but a victory for the Bleus boys by the final whistle. Or, alternatively, back a bet of 11/8 for France to be in the lead after 60 minutes.

Swiss seeking second spot confirmation

Switzerland have been rather unconvincing so far, but still keep hoovering up the results, though would have been hoping for more than a draw versus Romania last time out.

Therefore, a 15/4 shout for Swiss match success seems unlikely, though La Nati will be motivated with their progression from the pool still not secure. At the moment, poised on four points, Vladimir Petkovic’s guys will at the least secure a third place finish and potentially qualify from that, but should be aiming for an automatic spot.

Romania v Switzerland - UEFA Euro 2016 - Group A - Parc des Princes

Group rivals Romania require a La Nati loss and victory themselves versus rock bottom Albania to overtake as well as favourable goal difference. Still, Switzerland are yet to truly click up top, with Bayer Leverkusen forward Admir Mehmedi poaching a vital equaliser against Romania while deployed on the wing and Hoffenheim centre back Fabian Schar turning hitman for their opening Albania win.

Mehmedi and Schar are 7/2 and 6/1 to be on target again anytime respectively, but what the Swiss need is for Eintracht Frankfurt frontman Haris Seferovic (11/4) to get into gear, or Stoke City star Xherdan Shaqiri (5/1) to step up, with Basel young-gun and Manchester United-linked marksman Breel Embolo 8/1 for the final say.

Will Deschamps twist or stick with strikeforce?

After it took such a long time to unlock Romania, France boss Deschamps, either bravely or foolish depending on your view point, benched under-performer Paul Pogba and unlucky Antoine Griezmann for the second scuffle against Albania.

Deploying Anthony Martial (a 7/4 anytime chance) and Kingsley Coman on the wings to stretch a stubborn defence did not come off, however, and the ousted duo were soon called upon to rally for a win. Griezmann answered the call expertly and should safely regain his starting spot, with odds of 9/2 for him to net first again, or 6/5 for his second of the tournament anytime.

Finally it fell to sensational Dimitri Payet, a supposed target for Chelsea, to deliver the last and lethal blow in added time, with another curling cracker.

That’s two games, two goals and one assist, with both his strikes the last of each outing. Surely, Payet can’t poach the final goal again? Odds of 11/2 say that the man who saves his best for last can indeed. While, Olivier Giroud somewhat disappointed but is 5/4 to find favour again by firing anytime.
