Coral’s own Nicola McGeady sat down with Coral Ambassador and England legend Alan Shearer to discuss this Thursday’s crunch clash between England and Wales.

Reflecting on England’s draw with Russia, Shearer said:

“I think Roy will be happy with the performance, there’s far more positives than negatives. The only downside is when creating chances, you have to take them.”

Regarding Jamie Vardy’s involvement, he said:

“I’m surprised he didn’t get on [against Russia].  If it were me picking the team, I’d probably go for the same again though, but this time they have to take their chances.”

Looking at Thursday’s clash with neighbours Wales, Shearer thinks it will be tough for Roy Hodgson’s team:

“It will be a difficult game. Wales wouldn’t surprise me if they sat deep and got men behind the ball and tried to hit England on the break. It really will be a tough game and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Despite Wales’ impressive start to the tournament, England are the odds-on favourites for victory at 4/7, with Chris Coleman’s men available at 11/2.
