Multiple matches to go the distance

With Wimbledon 2016 now underway, it is the bottom half of the men’s singles draw’s turn to take to the courts of the All England Club, and day two of the competition sees the likes of British hero Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka in the first round.

Coral pick out five top tips to take from the day’s action, so read on to find out how you can reap rewards with some tasty prices…

Verdasco and Tomic to battle out five-setter

2016 AEGON Championships - Day Two - The Queen's Club

In this duo’s only previous Grand Slam meeting, the 2012 Australian Open, they battled out a five-setter with Bernard Tomic eventually having to come back from 2-0 down to triumph in the first round.

They faced each other as recently as at Queen’s this year too, where again it went the distance and in favour of the Australian over Fernando Verdasco.

But, as both have reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals in the past, it will be difficult to split them, so back this match to go over 4.5 sets at 5/2.

Gasquet to defeat Bedene in four

2016 AEGON Championships - Day One - The Queen's Club

Aljaz Bedene went further than Richard Gasquet at the recent Queen’s Club AEGON Championships, as the Frenchman went out in the first round on his only appearance on grass this year.

However, being the seventh seed and a two-time semi-finalist here, including in 2015, he should be able to have now trouble beating the Slovenian-born Brit.

Backed by his new home crowd, Bedene will still aim to get a set off Gasquet, though, so he is a tempting 5/2 to lose 3-1.

Isner and Baghdatis to go the distance

Mideast Emirates Dubai Tennis

John Isner and Marcos Baghdatis are both masters of playing out epic matches, particularly the former who many will remember holds the record for winning the longest-ever match in history, and at Wimbledon too.

Big-serving Isner has won all six of his clashes with the Cypriot, but each came on hard courts, so Baghdatis should be able to make a better account of himself this time around.

The pair went to four sets at the 2011 US Open, but are 12/5 to go one further on this occasion, no matter the outcome.

Stepanek to shock Kyrgios

ATP tournament in Stuttgart

Evergreen Radek Stepanek, 37, continues to prove that he is far from done, as not only did he nearly shock Murray at the 2016 French Open by claiming the opening two sets, but also reached the quarters at the Stuttgart Open.

Volatile Nick Kyrgios, on the other hand, lost in his only grass court appearance this season against Milos Raonic at Queen’s, and could be in for a first round shock here.

The duo’s only head-to-head came at the French Open in 2013, where the Aussie defeated the Czech veteran in three tie-breaks. On Stepanek’s favoured surface this time around, back him at 7/2 to triumph.

Thiem to edge Mayer 3-2

ATP-Tournament in Halle

Finally, perhaps two of the most in-form players on the ATP tour, besides Novak Djokovic and Murray, have been drawn in a mouthwatering opening round fixture.

Austrian rising star Dominic Thiem got to the 2016 French Open semi-finals, and then followed that success by claiming the Stuttgart title.

Germany’s 32-year-old Florian Mayer, meanwhile, won in Halle, knocking out Thiem along the way. However, the 22-year-old is 9/2 to get revenge and edge this encounter in five sets.
