Sunday set for Premier League final day with European spots still at stake

After what has been an incredible season, the Premier League comes to a close this Sunday as every side features at 3pm in their respective curtain call fixtures. Though, don’t fear, Euro 2016 is just around the corner!

Ahead of the summer’s event in France there are plenty of final day thrills to be enjoyed though, with champions Leicester City making the trip to London to face Chelsea, while Arsenal tackle rock-bottom club Aston Villa and Tottenham travel to Tyneside for a clash with relegated Newcastle United.

Manchester United and Manchester City are locked in a last day battle for a top four position as they contest Bournemouth and Swansea City respectively. After saying goodbye to Upton Park, West Ham United meet Stoke City, with West Bromwich Albion hosting Liverpool as Southampton welcome Crystal Palace.

Elsewhere, Everton will play Championship bound Norwich City after sacking Roberto Martinez and Watford must face Sam Allardyce’s Sunderland.

City close to top four place

In one of three live games during Sunday’s Premier League finale, Manuel Pellegrini will take charge of his last Man City game before making way for Pep Guardiola, with his side searching for a result over Swansea which would secure Champions League football next term.

Liverpool v Manchester City - Capital One Cup - Final - Wembley Stadium

The Sky Blues go into this clash on their travels with fate in their own hands after rivals Man Utd blew their chance to go ahead against West Ham, and a victory will guarantee them a top four spot. They are 9/5 with Coral to win to nil and remain in the CL spots, though a draw (7/2) will be enough due to their superior goal difference.

Argentine attacker Sergio Aguero is famous for final day heroics, though this time out his contributions may not be for as such a significant prize as previous years but, nevertheless, he is 11/4 to open proceedings. Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne is 6/5 to end his maiden campaign in blue with a strike anytime.

The Swans are 5/1 to prevail and hand Man Utd a boost in their European pursuit, with forwards Bafetimbi Gomis (2/1 anytime), Andre Ayew (2/1) and Kenji Gorre (11/4) key to any such success on home soil.

Red Devils clash with Cherries

In another live final day encounter, Man Utd will look to keep the pressure on their city rivals by winning at Old Trafford against Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth, who they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to last December on the south coast.

The Red Devils can only secure a Champions League position for next season if they win in front of their home fans and Man City lose to Swansea, after their Hammers disappointment last time out, and they are 2/1 to prevail with both teams scoring.

Bournemouth will be happy to have survived this term and the Cherries are 7/1 to give Man Utd last day misery by securing three points, while a draw is 4/1 to occur, with the hosts potentially having one eye on their upcoming FA Cup final.

Anthony Martial has been Man Utd’s star this season and the Frenchman is 7/2 to open proceedings, while fellow youngster Marcus Rashford is the same price to net last and skipper Wayne Rooney is 6/5 to dispatch anytime. Cherries threats Callum Wilson and Joshua King are both 7/2 to get on the scoresheet.

Hammers hold top six hope

The visitors may be still be suffering from a hangover after their title success, and rightly so, but marksman Jamie Vardy is 8/1 to fire in two or more goals, as the race for the Golden Boot also reaches a conclusion. PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez is also 2/1 to strike anytime in the capital.

It’s unclear whether the Spaniard will remain in charge when Newcastle embark on their Championship campaign next season, but his current forwards Aleksandar Mitrovic, Papiss Cisse and Andros Townsend are all 2/1 to net anytime.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane will aim to secure the top scorer accolades this term and the England striker is 9/2 to score first, as he looks to pip Aguero and Vardy to the honour.
