Found set for Moore success in Tattersalls Gold Cup

Found could not have been more impressive when scoring last time out, and looks a worthy red-hot favourite to land the landing the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at The Curragh (15:40).

Trained by Aidan O’Brien, the beautifully bred daughter of Galileo enjoyed a terrific 2015 when winning twice and running some top class races in defeat.

After scoring easily in the Group 3 Royal Whip Stakes over course and distance, Found ran a blinder to be beaten just a length by Investec Derby winner Golden Horn in the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes.

The four-year-old then got no luck in running when ninth behind that rival in the Arc, but got revenge on the final start of the campaign when getting the better of John Gosden’s stable star by 1/2 a length in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf at Keeneland.

Moorsebridge success oozed class

Found

Although disappointing when a well beaten third in the Group 3 Coral.ie Alleged Stakes on return to action at The Curragh, Found showed the benefit of that run when easily landing the Group 3 Mooresbridge Stakes at the same venue earlier in the month.

Jockey Ryan Moore gave the daughter of Galileo an ultra confident ride, and after having to wait for a gap to appear Found quickened between rivals 100 yards out to score easily by 1 1/2 lengths.

It was a performance which oozed class, and also one which suggested Found was better than ever.

This demands more, but Found has already proven herself at the highest level so, with Moore once again in the saddle, can land the spoils en route to a crack at the Coronation Cup at the Investec Derby Festival.

Fascinating Rock commands the utmost respect

Irish Flat Season Launch

Fascinating Rock finished 3 1/4 lengths behind Found in the Mooresbrigde, but that was his first run of the season and he is entitled to strip much fitter for it.

The Dermot Weld trained five-year-old has won six of his 13 starts, and in the last of those successes beat Found by 1 1/4 lengths in the Group 1 Champion Stakes at Ascot back in October.

Judged on that run, the son of Fastnet Rock is a massive player, but Found wasn’t given the best of rides that day having been held-up miles off the pace and given far too much to do.

Found is also arguably open to further improvement and hails from a yard which has a terrific record in the race having won it six times since 2003.

Coral’s top tip: A cracking renewal of the Tattersalls Gold Cup in which Found is strongly fancied to get the better of Fascinating Rock to provide trainer Aidan O’Brien with his seventh winner of the Group 1 contest.
