Find out which horse is the reason Luke Morris is riding at Beverley this weekend…

SPORTSBOOK ODDS

There were a couple of shocks in the Irish 2,000 and 1,000 Guineas last weekend and I personally would be keener on the two winners at Newmarket reversing the form than the winners, albeit they both won well.

I was impressed with Awtaad in the Irish 2,000 Guineas. He’s clearly talented and only lightly raced so he’s on the upgrade. Having said that I was surprised to see Galileo Gold beaten given the performance he put in at Newmarket.

Things didn’t really go his way with the ground and luck in-running and when the two meet again I would still side with Galileo Gold to come out on top of Awtaad to be honest.

As for the Irish 1,000 Guineas, I was as surprised as anyone to see Minding get beaten as I’m such a fan of hers.

HORSE RACING

Jet Setting was well suited by the ground and it was a good performance to win. However, I’m certain there are plenty more big days with Minding and wouldn’t be writing her off yet at all.

I’m pretty certain there will be some big days this season with Time Warp, who surprised myself and my boss Sir Mark Prescott with the manner of his win in a Listed race in France.

He’d been working reasonably well at home but not really sparkling so I think it was encouraging that he was able to do what he did. He can step up into Group company now and make his presence felt.

I have a few lightly raced sorts I’m hoping can run well today and fingers crossed I’ll be going home with a winner as my best chance might just be in the last race of the day.

1.50 Beverley – Coronation Day
She ran really well on debut in an okay maiden at Wolverhampton. Things didn’t drop right for her at Newmarket last time when they went no pace and she was too free and didn’t see the race out. She drops back to a stiff five furlongs for this and there’s a chance she might find it happening a bit quick. She does show good speed though and I hope she can run a nice race.

Horse Racing - Leicester Racecourse

2.25 Beverley – Prince Of Lir
This looks a warm race. My horse is the only one making his debut and it having experience often makes all the difference in two-year-old races. He was an expensive breeze-up buy so can clear go some and the reports are he’s a pretty nice horse too. Hopefully he can run a nice race and might just surprise a few people maybe.

3.00 Beverley – Our Greta
She ran well in the Lily Agnes on her first start so has ability for sure. She needs to step up on that run but I’d have thought she’d be well capable of doing that. She’s drawn well which is a help and fingers crossed she capable of being involved.

4.45 Beverley – Tafahom
I don’t know a huge amount about this horse but he’s not shown a lot so far for new connections. He has dropped down the handicap as a result though so is starting to look well handicapped. I think it’s a case of waiting until he shows a bit more before having any huge amount of confidence in him.

5.20 Beverley – Cote D’Azur
He is the main reason I am riding at Beverley. He ran really well on his reappearance and was unlucky to bump into an improver that day. I think the track will suit him as he’s a nippy, agile horse and I’d like to think he’d be thereabouts at the end. I think he’ll appreciate quick ground as he has a skiddy action on him.

Cheers,
Luke
