Coral’s bet of the day

  • Ferrer has won all five matches on clay v Lopez
  • Spaniards have enjoyed close encounters before
  • Ferrer is a former finalist at the French Open

Ferrer a tempting 5/2 price to defeat Lopez 3-1

Spanish compatriots David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez go head-to-head in the 2016 French Open third round on Saturday, in a match-up that is the subject of Coral’s bet of the day.

Tasty odds of 5/2 say that the former will beat the latter 3-1, to meet the winner of Pablo Cuevas and Tomas Berdych in the last 16.

Read on to find out why you should take this brilliant bet…

2016 Miami Open - Men Third Round - Miami

Ferrer and fellow 34-year-old Spaniard Lopez, who were doubles partners at the 2012 London Olympics, have battled it out on 15 previous occasions, including five times on clay.

Former French Open finalist (in 2013) and number 11 seed Ferrer has triumphed in nine of those clashes, each of the last six, and every time on the orange surface.

Lopez has no luck against Ferrer

One in particular was at the French Open, at this same stage on the way to reaching the final, in straight sets.

But, like a fine wine, Lopez has improved with age, reaching his highest ATP ranking of 12 just last year, so expect this to be a more competitive occasion.

Olympics 2012 - Llodra Tsonga Vs Ferrer Lopez

Besides the French Open, their previous clash on clay ended in a tight three-setter involving two tie-breaks apiece at the Barcelona Open. Therefore, Lopez is more than capable of claiming a set once again.

Ferrer has already come through a four-setter this tournament, last time out against Argentine Juan Monaco, while Lopez has too in his first round victory over Thomas Fabbiano.

So, what are you waiting for punters? Take this enticing price of 5/2 for Ferrer to beat Lopez in four sets to reap rewards!
