Late support for McIlroy ahead of US Masters

Rory Mcilroy has been cut into 15-2 (from 8-1) by bookmaker Coral to win the US Masters this week and complete the Career Grand Slam following a flurry of bets for the Northern Irishman over the last 24 hours. Jason Day remains the 6-1 favourite to come out on top at Augusta, while defending champion Jordan Spieth can be backed at 10-1 to win his second Green Jacket.

Coral is offering its customers 15-8 that one of the top three in the betting, Day, McIlroy or Spieth come out on top on Sunday evening, while Day is 13-8 to win more majors than McIlroy and Spieth in 2016.

“We expected the money to come for McIlroy as he is always extremely popular in the majors and punters have put their faith in the Northern Irishman once again. The one man we don’t want winning the Green Jacket this week though is Louis Oosthuizen as he presents our biggest liability as many punters feel he is the best alternative from the big three in the betting,” said Coral’s John Hill.
