Leading bookmaker Coral has cut the odds on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announcing this year they are having a third baby into 1-2 (from 2-1) after the firm has seen a sustained gamble over the last 24 hours on Kate giving birth again.

Coral already has betting available on the gender of a third child for Will and Kate where a boy is the marginal favourite at 10-11 this time around. The firm is offering 20-1 for the couple to have twins and 150-1 for triplets to arrive next.

“We’ve taking a significant number of bets over the past 24 hours on a third Royal baby announcement this year. We’ve not seen a gamble on this intensity since Kate revealed she was pregnant with her second child,” said Coral spokesman, John Hill.

“Our odds suggest George and Charlotte could be set for a younger brother as a boy is the favourite in the gender betting of the third child, while we’ve already taken bets on Kate giving birth to twins next time around,” added Hill.
