Form

Soll has completed in two renewals of the Crabbie’s Grand National, coming home seventh in 2013 when trained by Jo Hughes and finishing ninth in 2015 – in between was 11th in the 2014 Crabbie’s Topham Chase over the National fences.

He Joined David Pipe (his fourth trainer after John Quinn, Willie Mullins and Hughes) after pulling up in the Grade 1 Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris in May, 2014.

Sandown

This season Soll came fourth in Becher Chase over the Grand National fences at Aintree in December, before capturing the inaugural final of veterans’ chase series at Sandown Park on January 2nd.

Could come only third but beaten a long way when eased down and beaten a long way behind fellow Crabbie’s Grand National contender Unioniste at Kelso on his most recent start, but is better than that.

Race record

Soll has a strike rate of just under 33 per cent and is a tough and consistent sort who always gives it his best shot. He is an out-and-out stayer who relishes a battle, and his course form is solid.
