Tizzard to taste victory in day three feature contest

Trainer Tizzard has watched eight-year-old gelding Thistlecrack record three impressive victories this season, starting with Newbury’s Long Distance Hurdle at the Hennessy meeting.

Beating reigning World Hurdle champion Cole Harden by six-and-a-half lengths, Thistlecrack followed up with an eight-length success in the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot. Re-opposing race rival Saphir Du Rheu was more than 30 lengths down on Tizzard’s top hurdler in fifth that day.

What was most impressive, however, was Thistlecrack’s Cleeve Hurdle showing on Cheltenham Festival trials day back in January over course and distance. He romped home, trouncing another strong field by a victorious margin of a dozen lengths.

At a boosted bet of 12/1, Thistlecrack is clearly splendid value and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a horse in finer form at the entire Festival than Tizzard’s star.
