Katie Canford primed to open account

Katie Canford caught the eye last time out and can take advantage of what looks a lenient mark to open her account in the 7f handicap at Lingfield today (16.20) now dropped down in trip.

The John Bridger trained filly is yet to get her head in front in eight starts, but has shaped well on more than one occasion.

They include when a fine third of eight to Kassia in a decent maiden at Sandown last May in a race which has worked out well.

Katie Canford showed plenty of pace to chase the leaders before keeping on nicely to be beaten just over 2 1/2 lengths, and the winner is now rated 87.

The runner-up Our Joy has also won since to be rated 80, and the fourth, fifth and sixth home have all gone on to taste success.

That gives the form a solid look in the context of this class 6 contest and suggests that Katie Canford is well-treated off a mark of just 60.

The three-year-old also comes into the race on the back of a solid fourth over 1m at this venue when only weakening late on, and judge on that effort the drop back down to 7f is sure to suit.

Course specialist Picansort weighted to strike

In the 5f handicap that closes proceedings (17.35), course specialist Picansort looks decent value to cash-in on a drop in the weights and land the spoils.

The Peter Crate trained nine-year-old is a five-time course and distance winner, with the last of those successes coming in a class 4 contest in March 2014 off a mark of 84.

Picansort has since gone on to score at Brighton last year, and has also posted a number of solid efforts to make the frame.

They include when a length runner-up over course and distance four starts back off 67, and Picansort is now able to race in this class 5 affair off just 63.

That gives the gelding major claims at the weights on the pick of his form, especially if the refitting of the blinkers have the desired effect.

Selections

14.10: Quality Song
14.40: Foylesideview
15.15: Bargain Buy
15.50: Hawk Moth
16.20: Katie Canford (NAP)
16.55: Siri
17.25: Picansort (NB)

Light Rose ready to bloom at Kempton

Light Rose shaped really well last time out and looks weighted to get back to winning ways in the 7f handicap on this evening’s card at Kempton (18.25).

The Jeremy Gask trained mare is a dual winner at the trip, with the last of those successes coming at Lingfield 12 months ago off a mark of 66.

Light Rose went on to finish a excellent 3/4 length runner-up over course and distance off 68 and is now able to race off 65.

That gives the six-year-old major claims from a handicapping perspective, and the daughter of Cape Cross comes into the contest having posted an eye-catching effort over 1m at this venue following a break.

Light Rose showed plenty of pace to track the leaders until weakening inside the last to finish a six length fourth to Ziggys Star.

That run should have blow away the cobwebs and put her spot on for this, and the drop back down to 7f is a massive plus.

Here’s Two has lots going for her

Kempton NH

In the 1m handicap (19.25), the lightly raced Here’s Two is a fascinating contender now stepped up in trip.

The Ron Hodges trained filly has only had four starts, and caught the eye on the second of those when staying on nicely under tender handling to finish a 3 3/4 length fourth of 10 to Shufooq over 7f at Lingfield.

Here’s Two finished just 1/2 a length behind the third home Regality who has since run two solid races to finish runner-up and is now rated 72, and the fifth home Ruby Tuesday has come out and won since to be rated 71.

That form reads well in relation to this class 6 contest and suggests Here’s Two is potentially very well-treated off a handicap mark of just 60.

The three-year-old also didn’t shape too badly on handicap debut when last seen in action, staying on from off the pace to finish a never nearer 3 1/2 length seventh of 10 over 7f at Wolverhampton.

Judged on those efforts the step up to 1m is what Here’s Two has been crying out for, and with George Baker in the saddle the daughter of Hellvelyn looks weighted to run a huge race.

Selections

17.55: Burauq
18.25: Light Rose (NAP)
18.55: Biodynamic
19.25: Here’s Two (NB)
19.55: Squire
20.25: Multitask
