Coral’s bet of the day

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan has won five of six meetings with Michael Holt
  • The Rocket has dominated short format clashes
  • He has prevailed by two frames in three of those five victories

O’Sullivan beats Holt 4-2 at 10/3

The World Grand Prix takes centre stage in Wales this week, as the world’s best snooker stars break-off in Llandudno, and Coral’s bet of the day features Ronnie O’Sullivan at a tasty 10/3 to overcome Michael Holt 4-2 in their opening round encounter.

Dafabet Masters 2016 - Day Eight - Alexandra Palace

O’Sullivan enters the latest event for what is likely to be his final competitive tournament appearance before next month’s World Championship, when he will aim to be crowned a six-time Crucible king.

The Rocket will therefore be gunning for a strong showing on Welsh soil before trying to close the gap on Stephen Hendry’s seven world title victories, and his opening round match-up sees him paired against Hitman Holt.

Rocket can blast past Holt

O’Sullivan has secured the sought-after Grand Prix crown once before, toppling the likes of current world number one Mark Selby, baize legend Paul Hunter and defiant Scot Graeme Dott along the way to success back in 2004.

Dafabet Masters 2016 - Day Five - Alexandra Palace

Over a decade later, the Rocket will look to take off once again, but must first deal with the threat of the Hitman, who he holds a superior head-to-head record over since first colliding in 2002.

Crowd favourite O’Sullivan has prevailed in five of six previous competitive meetings with the Nottingham cueist, including a dominant streak in their short format battles.

Of those five successes, the 28-time ranking event winner has edged Holt out by two frames on three occasions, with his only defeat coming back in 2007 during a Malta Cup clash. Though, with odds of 10/3 available on O’Sullivan securing another two-frame coup with a 4-2 result, make sure you don’t miss out on Coral’s promising bet of the day!
