Holly Thackeray | March 5, 2016
Coral’s bet of the day
- Watford have found the net just twice in their last five league games
- Leicester remain top of the Premier League table after rivals’ slip-ups
- The Foxes have kept four clean sheets across seven in all comps
- Last time Leicester travelled to Vicarage Road they won 3-0
Leicester 16/5 to beat Watford to nil
Surprise Premier League title chasers Leicester City star in the late televised kick-off on Saturday, when the feisty Foxes face Watford at Vicarage Road.
So, for punters’ pleasure, Coral writers have picked out a price of 16/5 as our bet of the day, for Claudio Ranieri’s guys to wreak havoc at Vicarage Road and beat the Hornets to nil.
Last time Leicester rocked up in Hertfordshire in 2013, with both teams then stranded in the second-tier, the Midlands men ran out 3-0 winners and will be eager to repeat such an emphatic shut out again.
The guests are certainly capable of guarding their goal, despite a reputation for taking part in exciting encounters, with four clean sheets from their last seven across all competitions. And, of course, everyone remembers Ranieri’s tempting pizza promise reward for keeping teams at bay.
Italian tactician Ranieri’s rampant Foxes also saw their title rivals stumble recently, and must capitalise, having shown already agaisnt the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham, that they can go for the kill.
Have the Hornets lost their sting?
A closer look at hosts Watford’s record reveals they have stagnated in regards to scoring of late, with hitmen Odion Ighalo and Tory Deeney combining for just three goals between them in the Hornets’ past seven scuffles.
In fact, coach Quique Sanchez Flores has seen his side strike just twice in their last five league games, with one a penalty, and from open play also only twice in their previous six across all competitions, with another of those an own goal by Leeds United in the FA Cup.
Leicester, then, look good value at that 16/5 price to hold off the Hornets for a victory and clean sheet, as Raneiri reinforced his title intent to press.
“I like people to do the job with a smile,” said the former Chelsea boss. “Life can be hard so it’s important to stay together with a smile. It’s my philosophy.
“There are 10 matches left. It will be a big battle, every match. Nobody can enjoy, everybody must win.”
