Coral’s bet of the day

  • Marco Fu has toppled Rickey Walden in five of their six ever meetings
  • The Hong Kong potter has won by three or more frames in four of those wins
  • Walden has accumulated only eight frames from those six matches

Fu 24/5 to beat Walden 4-1

The PTC Snooker Finals are continuing in Manchester, and it’s a second round clash that Coral’s bet of the day comes from this fine Thursday, with Marco Fu 24/5 to overcome Ricky Walden 4-1 in their latest match-up.

Hong Kong cueist Fu came through a gruelling meeting with experienced Scotsman Alan McManus in the previous round, downing the circuit veteran 4-3 to cement a second round position against Walden.

Two-time ranking event winner Fu holds a truly dominant head-to-head record over the Walnut and he will again look to crack his opponent, having prevailed an impressive five times across six competitive baize battles since 2012.

Hong Kong Fuey ready for another Walden win

The 38-year-old, dubbed Hong Kong Fuey, will take plenty of confidence into this latest encounter with Chester cueist Walden, who dispatched Tom Ford to reach this stage of the competition on Lancashire soil.

Fu enters this second round meet having beaten Walden by exactly three frames on three occasions and by a trio or more four times, with the Walnut haplessly recording only eight frame wins across all their six competitive clashes.

The former UK Championship and Masters finalist, now into his 18th season as a professional potter, recently toppled Welshman Gareth Allen by three frames too in their China Open last 128 face-off, racking up an emphatic break of 129 in that triumph.

Now, on British soil, Fu will look to continue an impressive year to date, as he has one eye on the world rankings too, as he currently sits inside the coveted top 16 in 15th position. He lies ahead of Welshman Michael White and narrowly behind veteran former world champion Mark Williams.

With a recent record of dispatching opponents by three frames and a strong history against second round opponent Walden, make sure to back Fu to succeed in this PTC Finals clash with a 4-1 result at a tasty 24/5!
