The Revenant 2-5 to win Best Picture at Oscars

Published:

The Revenant is odds-on at 2-5 with leading bookmaker Coral to win the Best Picture at the Oscars tomorrow evening in Los Angeles. The firm also expects Leonardo DiCaprio to pick up the Best Actor prize for his role in the film, where he is the shortest price anyone has ever been in the category at 1-100.

In the Best Director market, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarrito is 8-15 for his work on The Revenant, while Brie Larson is 1-33 to be named the Best Actress for her role as Joy in Room.

Kate Winslet is the shortest price of the British nominations at 7-2 to land the Best Supporting Actress, but Coral has seen some interest in Eddie Redmayne at 20-1 to cause an upset in the Best Actor category..

“If the odds are anything to go by, then it looks like The Revenant is set for a good night at the Academy Awards. It is odds-on to win the Best Picture, while it would be the biggest shock in Oscars betting history if Leonardo DiCaprio was not named the Best Actor,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“The odds suggest Kate Winslet has the best chance of the British nominations to win award but it would be a surprise if she beat Alicia Vikander for the gong for Best Supporting Actress,” added Hill.
