Luke Morris has a strong book of rides for Coral Winter Derby day!

Published:

Saturday is one of the biggest days of the all-weather season and there are lots of high-class horses in action at Lingfield and I can’t wait for it to start.

I’ve had a couple of days off this week with suspension which means I’ve been able to spend quite a bit of time with the missus going out for dinner and going to the cinema, which are thing we don’t normally get a lot of time to do, but I’m focused on the weekend racing now.

I’ve got a strong book of rides for Coral Winter Derby day and I hope that I can grab at least one winner and I’ll be giving it everything to win the big race as well.

He needs a career best to beat the likes of Muthmir, Move In Time and Take Cover but everything is set for him to run big. He’s drawn well in stall two and he’s probably at his best over five furlongs around Lingfield. He still seems in good form and he’s got a fitness edge on them too and with sprinters it’s always best when they’re sharp and ready. If there are any chinks in the top ones I hope he’ll be there to exploit them, it’s just whether he’s good enough to beat them.

He’s stepping up in grade against after winning last time. He got a lovely run round last time and he’s probably not going to get as soft a lead this time. He’s fairly versatile in how he can be ridden and he seems in good form so hopefully he can run another good race. He does need a career best though.

Complicit – 3.20 Lingfield
I think he needed his first start when he ran respectably behind Captain Cat and Lamar, but he was disappointing the last day. He needs to step up on that run to take a hand in this race and if he came back to the form he was showing last year he’d be more than capable of being involved in the shake up.

Bold Prediction – 3.55 Lingfield

I won on him a couple of run ago around Chelmsford and he’s got as equally good form around Lingfield as well. He’s a front-runner and if he can get a soft lead he’s got a massive chance. Looking at the race there doesn’t look to be too much pace in there and ideally drawn in stall four. He meets Loyalty, who beat him last time, on better terms as well so I think he can run a big race.

Grecian King – 4.30 Lingfield
He ran really well to be second first time and then last time he got a bit of a bump coming out of the stalls and it set him alight and he run far too free. We feel he’s sharpened up from his last run and while six furlongs would be ideal, we’re hoping he’s sharp enough to handle five furlongs against horses with weaker ratings. If he handles the drop back in trip he’s one that has a strong chance of winning.

Cheers,
Luke
