Champions League last 16 first leg tips

Following the exciting return of the Champions League last week, Coral now offer you five tasty tips on the next midweek European encounters, with reigning champions Barcelona in action against Arsenal in London.

As well as the Catalan giants contesting Arsene Wenger’s Gunners, Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich travel to Turin for a meeting with the 2015 finalists Juventus, while PSV face Atletico Madrid and Dynamo Kiev welcome Manchester City. So read on for our European tips…

Arsenal v Barcelona – Suarez 4/1 to score first

Barcelona travel to London knowing that Arsenal have only ever toppled them on one occasion competitively and, with their front three in unstoppable form, that run is likely to continue.

Arsene Wenger has already pinpointed Luis Suarez as the key danger man towards his Gunners and, after bagging an incredible 41 goals in all competitions this season, he is 4/1 to open proceedings at the Emirates.

Juventus v Bayern – Muller 6/4 to net anytime

Suarez isn’t the only frontman in fine form this term, with Bayern’s brilliant German poacher Thomas Muller having enjoyed a typically rampant campaign, netting an amazing 28 times on all fronts so far.

With his sublime streak including three in his previous two outings before this Juventus clash, as well as having dispatched past the Turin titans in a 2-0 victory in 2013, the World Cup-winning attacker is 6/4 to strike again anytime.

PSV v Atletico – Atleti 15/8 to win to nil

Diego Simeone’s Atletico outfit have been in superb form on their travels lately, having lost just once in their previous seven away games in all competitions, with that only defeat coming at the hands of Barcelona.

Atleti have also conceded just three times in those seven outings, a solid defensive run on the road which should see them earn a strong away result in their last 16 tie, and you can back them at 15/8 to triumph to nil again here.

Dynamo Kiev v Man City – Yarmolenko 2/1 to score anytime

Manuel Pellegrini’s Man City have been far from their absolute best in recent weeks, especially at the back, and talented Ukrainian forward Andriy Yarmolenko will test that stuttering Sky Blues rear guard to the limit.

Back the Dynamo Kiev attacker to get the better of Joe Hart anytime on home turf in front of an intimidating crowd, with tasty odds of 2/1 available on the former Stoke City target dispatching anytime.

Dynamo Kiev v Man City – City 13/10 to win

Despite their defensive frailties in recent performances, the Citizens should still have enough to overcome Kiev in this first leg liaison, as they look to finally go on and capture Europe’s elite club competition this term.

The visiting Premier League title hopefuls are 13/10 to earn an away victory here and set up a promising second leg back at the Etihad in two weeks time.
