(23:35) Thank you and goodnight

(23:17) DONE DEAL: Norwich in Maddison move

Looks like one for the future, but teenage midfielder James Maddison has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Carrow Road, but loaned back to Coventry City for the rest of this term.

Canaries storm a march on Liverpool and Spurs. Nice work Alex Neil. You might say he was on the ball, City! The oldest song in football is fair game for satire…

(23:15) Foxes frustrated

Premier League leaders Leicester City missed out on their attempts to secure attacking reinforcements.

CSKA Moscow wanted much more money for Ahmed Musa than the Foxes offered, then a combination of bad weather and Chelsea’s inability to offload Radamel Falcao meant they refused interest in Loic Remy.

Finally, Stoke City gave them short shrift over a late bid for Mame Biram Diouf. Claudio Ranieri must make do with what he’s got.

(23:10) Deals recap

  • Stoke smash transfer record to sign midfielder Giannelli Imbula
  • Everton splash £13.5m on Senegal striker Oumar Niasse
  • Middlesbrough bolster Premier League promotion push with Jordan Rhodes raid
  • Steven Fletcher loaned to Marseille by Sunderland
  • Seydou Doumbia netted by Newcastle on loan

(23:00) THE TRANSFER WINDOW IS SHUT

Stick a fork in it, this one is done. For you, and for me, the winter window is over!

(22:55) FIVE MINUTE WARNING

Not long left now, no more signing seem to be in the works, but who knows?!

(22:50) Changing of the Garde

Reports surface tonight that Aston Villa head coach Remi Garde is considering his future in the West Midlands. No winter window signings have been made.

Sad times at Villa Park. Relegation is looming large there…

(22:45) DONE DEAL: Benalouane loaned to Viola

Tunisia defender Yohan Benalouane has been loaned to Fiorentina by Leicester City.

(22:37) DONE DEAL: Imbula confirmed as a Potters player

Stoke smash their transfer record, paying an £18.3m fee for Porto midfielder Giannelli Imbula!

All you need to know on this deal here, courtesy of Jamie Clark.

(22:35) DONE DEAL: Van Ginkel completes PSV switch

Marco can Ginkel has gone on loan for PSV Eindhoven after a similar spell at Stoke ended, and that means big news for Potters fans…

(22:32) DONE DEAL: Boro make third signing

Belgian defensive midfielder Julian De Sart is also at the Riverside, joining from Standard Liege.

(22:30) HALF AN HOUR LEFT

Just 30 minutes to go now. Stoke are keeping us all waiting with bated breath!

(22:28) DONE DEALS: Dons add Revell and Emmanuel-Thomas

Alex Revell and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas have signed permanently from Cardiff and on-loan from QPR to bolster MK Dons’ attacking options.

(22:24) Rovers wrangle Gomez loan
Sunderland have finally managed to find a willing home for midfielder Jordi Gomez, as Blackburn have bagged the Spaniard on loan for the rest of the season.

(22:15) Berahino bucks trend

West Brom’s wantaway striker Saido Berahino is not falling into that old Twitter outburst trap again, with a move now looking unlikely, as he bid a rather anti-climatic goodnight…

(22:04) DONE DEAL: Church swaps Milton Keynes for Aberdeen

Now, that is one heck of a train journey! Simon Chruch joins the Dons on loan from, erm, the Dons.

Don’t want to sound pedantic, but Churches in Scotland are known as Kirks… if the Wales frontman can have the same impact up there as Andy Kirk, well Derek McInnes has got himself a player!

(22:02) DONE DEAL: Fer deal for Swans

Netherlands international midfielder Leroy Fer has joined Swansea City on loan from QPR until the end of this season.

(22:00) ONE HOUR LEFT

A mere 60 minutes to go, and we’re just waiting on Imbula to Stoke. Hope we didn’t prep that piece for nothing Potters!

Mark Hughes will not be amused, but still time to get the deal done…

(21:44) Niasse is nifty, according to Opta

Much as they sound like a forgotten book of the Bible, perhaps outlawed from authorised versions by the Lateran Council, the footballing disciples at Opta astutely point out Everton new boy Oumar Niasse has made a telling club contribution:

Maybe he is a reverse Baros then!

(21:41) Editor’s apology

Sorry Tigers fans, I do love you and the KC Stadium… second only to KC and the Sunshine Band!

And that’s why they told me to give it up, give it up; baby, give it up!

(21:35) DONE DEAL: Powell spends time in Hull

No, it’s not a punishment. Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell has been loaned to Steve Bruce’s Tigers for the rest of this season to build up some much needed fitness!

Leicester City’s Belgian right back Ritchie De Laet joins Jordan Rhodes at Middlesbrough. He’ll spend the rest of the season at the Riverside.

(21:28) DONE DEAL: Charlton add Rod Fanni to their defence

What an unfortunate name that is… nonetheless the former France international defender is at the Addicks for the rest of this term on loan.

(21:22) DEAL OFF: Remy to Foxes scuppered

A dagger through the hearts of all Leicester fans! OK, maybe I’m being overtly dramatic, but deadline day does to you.

Chelsea striker Loic Remy will not be joining the Foxes on loan. Stormy weather had something to do with it, as did Falcao failing to secure an alternative destination.

Alternative target Mame Biram Diouf isn’t going anywhere insist Stoke City!

(21:16) DONE DEAL: Tigers snare Kuciak

That’s Slovakia stopper Dusan Kuciak, not Polish counterpart Tomasz Kuszczak, Hull City fans. Again it rhymes, so that means he must be good, right?

The Legia Warsaw goalie, signed on an 18-month deal, will compete with Allan McGregor for a starting spot at the KC Stadium.

(21:10) Developments in the Potteries…

Sorry Stoke fans for teasing you, but it’s not Imbula yet, but rather Marco van Ginkel’s season-long loan is being cut short.

He’s back in his native Netherlands in talks with PSV Eindhoven about a similar switch!

(21:05) Je presente Monsieur Fletcher

Just doesn’t roll off the tongue does it? Nonetheless, Steven Fletcher’s loan switch to Marseille is complete, comprene?

(21:03) DONE DEAL: Go on loan Sanogo, again, at Addicks

Yaya Sanogo will spend the rest of this season with Charlton Athletic. Arsenal fans, remember Alex Song and Francis Coquelin? Loan spells at The Valley turned them from Boyz 2 Men, so it could be third time lucky with the French forward!

(21:00) TWO HOURS TO GO

Time is moving on folks. Still waiting on Imbula to Stoke, Remy to Leicester and could there be late, late drama somewhere else?

Who knows? Who dares to dream! If I hear anything, I promise faithfully you’ll be the first to know…

(20:55) DONE DEAL: Seagulls swoop for Skalak

Rhymes with Ballack, so must be good, right? Czech Republic international winger/striker Jiri Skalak has joined Brighton and Hove Albion from his homeland.

(20:50) DONE DEAL: Everton net Niasse

No pausing for breath here, folks. Oumar Niasse, the Senegal forward with a highly impressive goals to games ratio at international level, has arrived at Everton from Lokomotiv Moscow for a reported £13.5m. Maybe he’s the new Milan Baros?

(20:47) DONE DEAL: Rhodes a Boro player at last!

And another Scotland striker, one Jordan Rhodes, has finally come to Middlesbrough. It’s an initial £9m paid to Blackburn Rovers, rising to £11m on add-ons.

Here’s the full story from our very own Holly Thackeray!

First it was on, then off, and now it’s over the line. Are Boro Premier League bound? Brave man to bet against them…

(20:45) DONE DEAL: Fletcher makes Marseille move

Sacre bleu! The French theme just keeps on coming, with Scotland striker Steven Fletcher signing on loan for Marseille from Sunderland for the rest of this season.

Just need Imbula confirmed, and it can keep going!

(20:41) Always preferred a Claret myself…

Couldn’t resist, and after all, why not mention Burnley on deadline day? Earlier, the Turf Moor team captured Brentford and former Oldham defender James Tarkowski.

Completing a lengthy pursuit of a player must be like drinking a fine wine for Sean Dyche, but he’s always looked more like a stout man!

(20:35) Au revoir, Debuchy!

But not goodbye… The Arsenal right back returns to his native France on loan to Bordeaux for the rest of this season.

Let’s see what a specialist player in that area, Willy Sagnol, can make of him on the banks of the Garonne! That’s wine country, folks.

(20:33) WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?

Like INXS storming the charts 30 years ago, transfers I need you tonight:

  • Midfielder Imbula on verge of signing for Stoke
  • Senegal’s Niasse set for Everton switch

(19:11) Fer to Swans?

QPR’s Leroy Fer is said to be on his way to join Swansea City on loan, to replace Jonjo Shelvey.

(19:07) Richard Keys with late thoughts

There could be an awkward moment if Man City and Bayern Munich are drawn together in the Champions League, should they come through their last 16 Champions League ties with Guardiola to replace Pellegrini, which Richard Keys has just picked up on…

(19:02) Storm Henry to halt Remy move?

There’s always drama on deadline day, and the weather may play a part in things this time, as Storm Henry could prevent Leicester City flying over Remy from London by helicopter.

(18:45) Fulham hope to add another!

The west Londoners have certainly been busy on deadline day, and hope to bring in another loanee – talented Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

(18:43) Chelsea close curtain on incoming deals

Although the Blues won’t be bringing in anymore players, they have said that Remy could still go out on loan, while forgotten man Radamel Falcao is in line to return to Monaco or former club Atletico Madrid.

(18:40) Nearing the end of the Rhodes?

The stop-start transfer saga involving Jordan Rhodes looks set to be concluded, with the Blackburn Rovers frontman at Middlesbrough’s training ground to complete the move.

(18:37) DONE DEAL: Watford sign Doucoure

(17:53) Brace of Seagulls fly away

Brighton and Hove Albion pair Elvis Manu and Rohan Ince have joined Huddersfield Town and Fulham respectively on loan. The Cottagers have also signed Zakaria Labyad from Sporting until the end of the season.

(17:49) Will Man Utd get anyone?

With the Red Devils lacking in attack, as well as many other positions, surely someone will join before the deadline? Perhaps the club are not willing to splash out yet again…
