The Reds and Man City head to this final showdown on the back of both scoring in each of their last eight meetings, in which the latter have won just two of.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have beaten the Citizens in three of the previous four duels, including a 4-1 thrashing earlier this season in the Premier League.

Brazilian pair Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino were on target that day, and the duo will be available once again, alongside the returning Daniel Sturridge, which will no doubt boost be a boost for Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp the cup king

Speaking of the German boss, he has gained a bit of a reputation of being a cup king, having won three DFL-Supercups, a DFB-Pokal and also reached the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund, despite the opposition from giants Bayern Munich.

“It’s a final so it’s not important how good you are usually, it is only important how good you are in this game so it’s a big chance for us,” Klopp said.

“It’s a chance and that’s all I need. You should not waste opportunities of winning titles and cups and I’m ready for winning something.”

Can Klopp now transfer that success in just a few months in charge at Anfield? Of course he can, especially with Man City in somewhat of a bad spell, ever since the announcement of Pep Guardiola as their manager at the end of the season.
