Coral’s bet of the day

  • Baghdatis has won four of five meetings with Troicki
  • Cypriot has claimed the past three duels
  • Troicki is favourite but Baghdatis has won 2-1 before

Marcos Baghdatis beats Viktor Troicki 2-1 at 10/3

The Dubai Tennis Championships returns, with top names such as Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka and Tomas Berdych taking part, and Coral have picked a match in the Men’s singles section for our bet of the day on Monday.

Terrific odds of 10/3 are available for Marcos Baghdatis to beat Viktor Troicki 2-1 in their first round clash that is scheduled to start at around 16:45 GMT, and read on to find out why this is too good not to take…

The Cypriot, who is the same age as his Serbian counterpart at 30, has won four of their total five meetings in the past, with the first being in 2010 and the last in 2014.

All four of his triumphs have been on hard courts, which is the same surface as the ones at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in Dubai too.

2016 Australian Open - Day One - Melbourne Park

On top of that, Baghdatis has also won each of the last three head-to-heads, including by a 2-1 scoreline in Basel in 2011, while he also beat Troicki before in Asia too the same year – in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Back Baghdatis to defy odds

Troicki may be the odds-on favourite for this battle, but that bis only due to his slightly higher ranking of 22, compared to Baghdatis’ at 57. So, that only makes the latter’s odds for victory and by a scoreline all the more enticing.

Former Australian Open finalist Baghdatis has been in decent form leading up to this event, after recently knocking out top 20-ranked Belgian star David Goffin of the Rotterdam Open, also in three sets.

Other decent showings include reaching the semis in Stockholm and quarters in Montpellier in the last couple of months.

So, what are you waiting for punters? Take these tempting 10/3 odds for Baghdatis while you can!
