Alan Shearer on who will make the Premier League top four
Coral ambassador Alan Shearer sat down with us over the festive period to exclusively share his thoughts on who will finish in the Premier League top four at the end of the 2016/17 season.
At present Chelsea lead the way at the top of the table by six points, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal making up the rest of the Champions League places. While, Tottenham and Manchester United are hot on the chase after good runs of form.
But who has Alan backed to finish there? You can listen to Shearer’s thoughts in the video below, but we’ve also picked out the best quotes from his latest interview…
“[Man Utd] are a more settled team”
“Liverpool and Chelsea have a big advantage [not playing in] Europe,” Shearer said on the current top two teams.

Alan believes Man Utd look more settled now, but does he think they can break into the top four?
“There are some impressive performances there, Jose [Mourinho] seems as though he’s got Manchester United playing again and difficult to beat. [They are] a more settled team, particularly with the two centre halves in [Marcos] Rojo and in [Phil] Jones.”
However, Alan is unsure that the Red Devils can keep up their form and oust any of the current top four clubs.
“Chelsea and Liverpool I think will finish in the top four, I think Arsenal will also finish in the top four.
“I’m not going to change my mind [on Man City]”

Shearer is sticking to his guns and believes Man City will finish in the top four.
“I said Manchester City at the beginning of the season for the title, so I’m not going to change my mind just yet, so at the minute that’s my top four.
“United have relied on [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, and he’s been sensational this season; [Paul] Pogba seems to be finding some good form, but I just wonder if they get one or two injuries if they can replace Ibrahimovic.
“So at the minute, I would say Man Utd and Tottenham to miss out [on the top four].”
