Southampton, 6/4 with Coral for a top 10 finish in the Premier League, have seen many top stars leave over the years, however, for huge sums which have been reinvested in replacements.

Saints had began to adapt and seemed capable of coping and still maintaining a high level of performance, with their new recruits combined with talent from their burgeoning production line.

The problem, however occurs, when merely months later those replacements catch the eye of other clubs and become drawn into their clutches. Evidenced this season, in the case of defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama and Sadio Mane who have been linked with moves to a number of top sides.

Therefore, we have drawn up a handful of replacements for the duo, should they part company with the Saints anytime soon.

Nathan Redmond

A prodigious talent, the Norwich City attacker could well be a perfect replacement for Mane, with the England Under-21 international possessing pace in abundance plus a very credible scoring threat.

He would also be a great source of goals for Southampton’s strikers with the player more than capable of picking out crosses and balls into the box.

Granit Xhaka

The Swiss defensive midfielder is apparently seeking a move away from Borussia Monchengladbach and he would do far worse than make a move to Southampton where he would forge a fantastic on-field relationship with Dutch midfield maestro Jordy Clasie.

Accomplished in the Champions League and capped for Switzerland, he would definitely give the Saints an edge and also has an eye for a pass.

Kevin Volland

With Hoffenheim struggling in Bundesliga this season, it could see star player Volland jump ship ahead of Euro 2016 to increase his chances of making the Germany squad. The versatile attacker would definitely be an accomplished replacement for Mane and could become an exceptional player on the south coast.

Ander Iturraspe

Athletic Bilbao’s defensive midfielder Iturraspe could be exactly what the Saints need should Wanyama depart, offering steel plus a cultured presence.

The 26-year-old may relish a move to the Premier League, with the physicality bound to suit his aggressive style and he would fit right in at Southampton.
