Watford win can see them surge back up the Premier League

Quique Sanchez Flores’ side travel to south Wales for their clash with Swansea, knowing that three points would put them back in contention to qualify for a Europa League spot in the second half of the Premier League season.

The Hornets are 9/4 with Coral for the win and despite not registering a victory in four matches, they still have more than enough to sting the Swans. They were rather surprise winners when Swansea visited in September; Odion Ighalo netting the only goal, with odds of 9/2 on the Nigerian breaking the deadlock at the Liberty Stadium.

Strike partner Troy Deeney has also been excellent for Watford recently, leading to him being linked with a number of high-profile Premier League clubs in the January transfer window. Deeney is also 9/2 to open the scoring against a highly susceptible Swansea defence which conceded four at home to Sunderland last time out.

Flores confident in light of winless streak

Despite the club’s recent rocky patch, Watford boss Flores is staying positive and maintains his side have enough about them to mount a challenge this season.

“Except for the Southampton match, we are playing very well against amazing teams,” Flores said. “We have played to a high level for a long time in this category so it is normal that just one time.

“So we are waiting for this match (on Monday). We are in the top half of the table before Saturday’s games and we are very positive along with the players.

“It is our power that we are consistent; we have our rules when we play. We work together – as a block, as a unit. Of course we have had some sweet moments earlier in December but I never saw anyone start to think about not working hard or doing his job.

“There were some great matches at Christmas time and we have had a busy programme, just like all the other clubs.”

Swans need Ayew on form

If the hosts are to get anything, they need attacker Andre Ayew on top form, though the former Marseille man has been linked with a lucrative move to Sunderland this month, so cannot let this distract him.

Ironically, Ayew scored last time out in the 4-2 defeat to the Black Cats and is 6/5 to net anytime once more, while Gylfi Sigurdsson who also dispatched is 2/1 in the same market. Bafetimbi Gomis, meanwhile, who has recently been linked with Newcastle is 9/2 to open the scoring.
