Five “marquee” Stoke signings after Hughes’ revelation
Matt Haynes | January 17, 2015
According to reports, Mark Hughes has said that Stoke City will only enter the transfer window this January to bring in “marquee signings”, similar to the quality of Bojan and Xherdan Shaqiri.
As such, Coral suggest five potential targets that Hughes may move for over the next couple of weeks, as Stoke, 7/1 with Coral to finish in the Premier League top six this season, look to challenge at the right end of the table.
Andre Ayew
Reportedly linked with a move to Sunderland, the Ghanaian who arrived at Swansea in the summer would be a great capture for Stoke. With seven Premier League goals, he would slot seamlessly into the Potters’ prolific attack which includes both Bojan and Shaqiri.
Saido Berahino
West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has said he would sell the Baggies striker and Stoke have been linked. However, Hughes may look to move one of his forwards on before buying, with Peter Odemwingie likely to make way should there be any attacking additions.
Nathan Redmond
The 21-year-old is one of England’s brightest prospects. Highly-rated by Norwich, they are unlikely to let him go on the cheap, though should Hughes see his potential, he could be a superb signing in time for the Potters.
Viktor Fischer
In Christian Eriksen, Spurs undoubtedly have the best Danish player in recent times, though Fischer is the latest prodigy from the Scandinavian state to roll off the Ajax production line and is making headlines in Eredivisie.
The 21-year-old is at an ideal age to make a move and a switch to the Premier League with an ambitious Stoke side could be an attractive proposition.
Marco van Ginkel
Although, he is on loan at Stoke, making his move permanent from Chelsea would be seen as a coup by all associated with the club and at just 23, could develop into a top class midfielder in coming years.
